Holm's Camp turned down Cyborg fight at 198

That's not a title fight. And Conor is a much much bigger name, not that it justifies the match up.

I said it was a non title fight. That was my point. It was unprecedented until now. Can't blame Holly for tying to get an immediate rematch when crap like that is allowed to happen,

Holly said it as champ.
She is not the champ now.

The variables have changed.

Well i don't blame her either. Good for her. But i don't blame the UFC if they don't want an immediate rematch either. It's never happened before. Rematches on zero title defense.

Exactly and it's hard to blame them if they don't want an immediate rematch.

The problem is that there are no rules in place. Immediate rematches are happening without logic and consistency. It's hard to blame Holly for wanting an immediate rematch when the UFC started this idiotic trend and shows no signs of stopping it any time soon,

I agree with both of you lol
I am curious why she turned it down and her reasoning.

My only qualm are those that think Zuffa had no right to ask her to fight Cyborg.

Fair enough. But I wouldn't be surprised if it happens anyway. Dumber immediate rematches have happened.

Again there is nothing that suggests Holly would not still be willing to fight Cyborg.

Wait, unless you think if a fighter says they are willing that means 'I will do it anywhere, at any time, without any other consideration?'

If for instance Holly wants to get the title back and then is completely open to fighting Cyborg as Champ and lets the UFC know that, then she was true to her original word.

Shertards have this weird thing that if you say you are willing to fight someone that all other considerations must go out the window. I remember when Chael jumped in to fight Jones shertards were praising him for bravery while saying Shogun and Machida and other top LHW's were ducking. That is so very dumb but typical shertard. Chael was not brave and the others were not ducking. They were willing and wanted to fight Jones, but just not on short notice when he had been in camp and they had not. Shertards can't comprehend those types of decisions and instead call everything ducking.

Too long so I'll be quick. 1 I think we agree that from a business decision standpoint, holm shouldn't take this fight.

I just don't know where all this rational career management advice was when Ronda was the fighter in question....even though she was never actually presented the fight. As I always say, people give you the benefit of the doubt when you are liked.

If they got to have a womens fight on 200 - they could do alot worse than Holm - Borg - that might be the best womens fight that can be made from a fight ( NOT HYPE ) standpoint

It made sense for Ronda to take the fight at that point in her career. Taking a superfight with a dominant champ when you are also a dominant champ makes sense. If you lose you are still the champ.

Taking the superfight when you just lost your belt is a different story.

they have Cat vs Pena and might add another
HH vs Borg was for 198

On a very simple level...Ronda was on the bad side of the risk reward equation in that fight. Cyborg was on the right side. All Ronda really required was her weight class.

In this fight right now, holm is actually in the good side of the risk reward equation as she is coming off a loss. She's still the number one contender if she loses and she is definitively the next title challenger if she wins.

Cyborg has always been on the same side of the equation. She gains more by any UFC win that she loses with any loss.

My best rationale for holm not taking the fight is that as a veteran established fighter she should do anything short camp.

Cyborg has been the best since before Ronda fought. You're not the best because you have the loudest promotion.
Compare the 2 fighters. If you pick Ronda you have an old stink eye(s)
Ronda has a much better resume of opponents defeated and in a much more spectacular fashion. And without being 'roided up and rigging scales to fight women two weights below her(?). If you can't see that, then you are either blinder than Ray Charles, dumber than a box of rocks, or just a hater.

It's hard to get another title shot when you are on a two fight losing streak. Not saying it hasn't happened, but it's hard.

Dominant champ vs dominant champ makes more sense than dominant champ vs fighter who just lost a title fight.

Anyway I can see that we won't agree on this so I'm out.

Holly said it as champ.

Very true.

And when Ronda lost the title it became "no reason for her not to fight cyborg now"

Not saying you personally said that but it was the narrative around here.

You are the hater as you clearly hate one of them.

I don't have a dog in the race but I can see how cyborg is the better fighter than the other girls.

Cyborg has no business even being in the UFC. She doesnt have a weight class...too big to make 135 (I bet she cant make 140).. there is no one that will want to fight her. So why even bother?

you wanna fight for the belt or you wanna fight some chick who hasnt accomplished anything in like 5 years?

So there's no guarantee of a title shot if Holy wins, it's an absolute guarantee that she'll get buried if she loses, there's not enough time to prepare, and the fight is not even on the main card (which means the pay and exposure is crap), much less the main event. So... what's the upside again?

Holly gets a pass while Ronda got reamed over it, funny how that works.
