Up until fighting for the belt, her career path has been very calculated. She built up wins over weak opponents and then got a title fight with zero top 10 wins. It makes sense she'd go back to being strategic after losing the belt. Don't forget she comes from boxing where she was known for handpicking her fights as well.

You do know that Dana wanted Holly to sit out until Ronda was done with her movies so they could guarantee the rematch? This is where the most recent friction between Holly's management and the UFC came from. Holly wanted wanted to prove how much of a "real fighter" she was so she said she would fight Tate before the Ronda rematch and that she actually wanted fight Cyborg. The facts does not backup your claim that the UFC was trying to avoid the Holly/Ronda rematch.

It doesn't benefit Holly to have half a training camp to fight Cyborg, for what purpose? to fuck over her possible rematch for the strap?

Holly's only interested in either getting the strap back/avenging the loss or Ronda fight. Fighting Cyborg doesn't lead to any of this, at catchweight.

If she took this fight, they'd write off her possible rematch w/ Tate at UFC200, so why bother?

I think it's the right call for team holm so I can appreciate the business side of it. She has some upside in it. Make no mistake, cyborg will be a good scalp for whoever gets her first. At the same time, getting a title shot or eliminator type fight would provide more upside for holly.

People wanted Ronda to fight Cyborg because Ronda was destroying her opponents in such epic fashion that Cyborg seemed like the only one that could challenge her. It's not uncommon for dominant champs who clear out their division to take a super fight while waiting for new contenders to emerge.

Holly on the other hand, just lost her title. Her number 1 priority is getting it back. She still has things to prove in her own division and taking a super fight would just be pointless at this point in her career.

Hell doesn't make sense having Cyborg fight on her own weightclass at all now.
It only made sense when Ronda had her division cleaned out, but she ducked that fight (which was a smart move by her).

Dude I agree from a business standpoint that she shouldn't take that fight but there is upside for her. Beating cyborg in the UFC would be huge and would put her on top of the game. That said, I feel like holly can say she is above short notice fights at this point.

At the same time holly just said recently that she was open to that fight everyone here lampooned Ronda....looks like that was a bit premature. Keep in mind cyborg wasn't in the UFC completely until now.
