He doesn’t deserve a rematch, and Toperia only loses stock in a rematch. He’ll get a big payday regardless, he’s champ, and I don’t mind that he collects another belt, however it does muddy the waters if Toperia holds the BMF and not defend it. Let max fight someone else and let others collect big paydays for the BMF, win win all around.

This, im sorry but Max only does it when he knows his opponent is done. Topuria invited him in the center when both were still fresh in a fair situation and Max pus*ied out. He also didnt do it when Poirier beat the living sh** out of him or when Volk beat the sh** out of him when they fought before. He does it to an already dead horse, not when there is any danger.

Topuria gave him the chance to man up and do it vs someone who wasnt gassed, beat up and mentally not there anymore and Max showed his true colours…

How on earth was Dustin done and defenseless in those moments? As some of you insinuate that Max just waits till oponentis done.
And to pretend they can't land a shot on his and knock him out in those moments is silly.

Fight would be worse at 155 for Max. Ilia has the same speed at 155 and seems like his power is ever bigger at 155, Max on the other hand is slower at 155 and his power doesn't make much difference. Ilia would find the mark earlier and put him out inside two rounds.

Having said that Id obviously still favor Ilia like I did when they fought. But to claim all those things about Max at LW when hes looked awesome in his last 2 LW fights is crazy.

Not being super drained can only make any fighter better not worse.

Ilia would be favored. Max isn't seeing punches like he used to, especially backing up. Tactically and approach wise, Max is better than ever with much improved kick boxing, but he isn't in his physical prime and his chin is starting to fade - understandably as he's 17 years into a fighting career and 36 fights deep.

In their fight, Max was landing more on Topuria than anyone has on his run. Touching him often and making him work and he still got put out. I think it would be smart of Max to give it one last go at 155 against top guys, and then if he falls short, take a money fight and walk off into the sunset. He's a warrior in the cage and an all time person outside of it. He should retire soon.

Max is a warrior, no question about that. He was one of my favorite fighters, but that sh** he does to a dead opponent is just weak and cowardly and i lost respect for him bc of that.

Max would only have 1 finish in his last 12 fighte and over an already retired corpse of the Korean Zombie if he didnt do this vs Gaethje who was gassed and done way before the end. He doesnt have power to finish someone and this gives ONLY HIM the opportunity to finish a fight and look good.

You can tell when a fighter is done, battled up and mentally not there anymore. Gaethje was done, Ferg vs Gaethje was done way before the ref stopped, JDS was done vs Cain, etc. In this case, Poirier was already done way before the fight even ended, gassed and beat up, just waiting for the final bell to ring and get out of there.

I’d be totally fine if he would do it in close fights or fights he was losing too, but he doesnt bc he knows in that case there’s a possibilty he can get knocked out too. There is no danger vs a dead horse. Topuria gave him a fair shot and he ran away. You cant do it vs a gassed battled up mentally done opponent and then run away in a fair occasion when both are still fresh, thats a bit** move.

He's not faster at LW by any means, moving up in weight doesn't equal more speed. It's very clear he was faster at FW. He has good speed at LW, but he's not faster. And power wise, I don't see any difference in power. He's knocking guys down and out at FW as well in the same way. Max has never been a power puncher anyways so he power will be the same at any class.
