I think people feel short changed with wrestling heavy decisionators because it feels like the fight never really gets a conclusion other than one guy held the other guy down. Are you really the best fighter in the world if you can't finish anyone in 25 minutes meanwhile there are fighters like Aspinall and Tom who are sleeping people within 2 rounds regularly. I enjoy a wrestler who can land heavy GnP and hit subs. Khabib didn't finish much but his wrestling was dynamic to watch and he constantly pummelled people on the ground. GSP was accused of being boring during his height and rightfully so. No one is immune to this kind of criticism, but as long as MMA is a sport, it won't change unless everyone on the roster develops incredible TDD and bottom game grappling themselves.

It's been a rough few months for the crotch-sniffer fans with all these striking champs and exciting finishes.

Either go and watch Muay Thai, or go and watch Pro Wrestling. This isn't the right sport for you. 👋

I love how the guy who cant grapple his way out of apparent "hugs" and knees to the butt ...doesnt get blamed for being boring ...only the guy actually DOING SOMETHING...is lol.

Success can and has been manufactured repeatedly in this sport, especially in the UFC.
It can be sure

but I dont think this had anything to do with the two title fights last night.

Everyone knew what Merab was gonna do to win

Val just beats anyone they put in with her cos she's too good

The logic that it's Sean's fault that Merab is boring... Mental gymnastics... If Sean could grapple his ass off, it wouldn't have made Merab any more entertaining. It would just have made Sean a better fighter, Merab would still have the same exact style...

And it's because Sean couldn't do much to stop him that Merab was in control of the fight and the guy who is in control has the most power to make anything happen and make it entertaining, or not entertaining.

It's Sean's fault he lost, it's mostly Merab's fault that the fight wasn't very entertaining to many.

I don't think someone should win a round if all they do is take someone down and do nothing with it.
i agree the rules should change to reflect this. but when we make that change, we should also abolish ref standups.

control by itself is meaningless, but then there will be no help from the ref. if you can't get up, you stay down. if you can't get out of the clinch, you remain clinched.

we can't bitch about one and just accept the other.

It's not a matter of excitement, but of utilization. I love submissions and ground & pound which are set up by takedowns.
Cool, that’s why those are worth more points. Doesn’t mean positional dominance isn’t a thing. If someone tackles another guy to the ground, it is assault even if they don’t move in for a rear naked choke.
