Do people get some sense of moral superiority when they go against the "that was a boring fight" crowd?

Somehow that was more exciting than GSP/Diaz

These are the types of fights that happen when your defense is the only thing keeping you in the fight. You aren't on the other guy's level at all other than that though and you possess no skills to stop what is happening but can stifle your opponent's offense.

If Diaz and DDP were better, what happened in those fights wouldn't have happened and the fights would have been more exciting, just like their other fights were with fighters who didn't just play defense off their back the whole fight.

Yeah basically survival

You will always have the grappling gurus with their "go watch kickboxing". They are so butt hurt that people don't enjoy watching, they cannot see the fact that nothing significant actually happened.

I'm gonna start taking he opposite stance. They have no issue complaining about boring stand up fights, even though there is a tremendous amount of beautiful footwork, distance, timing.

If all you want to watch is 2 guys rolling around, not trying to hurt each other, go watch WWF. lol

In regards to changing the rules, you do realize many rules are in place that offer outright protection to wrestlers?
There's nothing the forces strikers to grapple. And effective striking is given priority in judging criteria.

DDP had the striking advantage and Hamzat did what he had to and not make it a striking match. Theres nothing wrong.
I agree. Can't keep the belt if someone can do that to you on the ground. DDP has some work to do.

That's how I look at it.

It can be both impressive and boring.
No doubt being able to control a guy like DDP so easily and completely is impressive - that's why they unwillingness to do anything more with that level of control and dominance was so frustrating and ultimately so boring
