Do people get some sense of moral superiority when they go against the "that was a boring fight" crowd?

I don't think I'm better. I just legitimately didn't think it was that boring of a fight. When there's enough anticipation it can override some of the letdown. If that were an early prelim fight then yeah forget about it. I've said in other threads though I feel like there's nuance between boring and not-entertaining. I think this fight was not-entertaining.

Boring and not entertaining basically mean the same thing to most native English speakers

I like Khamzat, I was hyped for that fight. I was happy with either guy winning. It was a turd.

Calling it boring is a lazy argument. Boring fights don't get new threads every day for weeks discussing it. There's been more emotional engagement off this fight than any other this year.

It's either a sport or a fistfight, depending on which narrative a fan is trying to create. i just find the over the top bellyaching about this specific fight to be a bit bizarre, as if safe, boring title fights or wrestlers smothering non-wrestlers aren't a thing. I don't think people are casuals for not liking this shit, but it's the over the top reaction that made them sound like casuals in this instance.

Let's just say what this was, a combo of Dricus lovers getting smushed in the same moment that Khamzat hate got amplified, which made for a particularly distasteful high pitched screech. For people who are just fans of the sport and the competition and aren't into mma to wave pom poms for fighters, the fanboy tantrums are annoying as fuck to listen to.

They do. But they'll only ever do it when the fight is grappling heavy. If the fight was entirely striking then apparently you're allowed to call the fight boring like Izzy vs Romero, or Ngannou vs Lewis. You're allowed to call those fights boring, but anything wrestling heavy you're just a casual.

I dont feel a sense of moral superiority, I just find the predictable outrage to be tiring. With the Khamzat thing in particular there was always going to be some angle that critics would take to still shit on him if he won. Its also the concept of choosing to watch MMA knowing that someone getting wrestlefucked is a possible outcome in this sport, then complaining when it occasionally happens instead of just shitting on the guy that got wrestlefucked for not being well rounded enough to defend against all the additional possibilities that come with MMA.

You should never really "expect" anything in a real non-scripted sport anyway. Sometimes it'll be exciting, sometimes it'll be boring. Either way theres a result and shit moves on.
