War Wagon Gane is going to shock the world.

The last Volkov fight was 3 rounds, and he gassed hard af because he was forced to fight. He can probably dance around looking pretty for 10 rounds. If you pressure him, force him to grapple, hit him, he will gas and wilt.

I used to rate Gane very highly but I don't think his head is in the game like it used to be.

If Aspinall is having problems on the feet, there's nothing Gane can do to stop the takedown. Once it's on the ground, he has nothing to offer.

There are still serious questions around Aspinall's cardio and it wouldn't surprise me if it's pretty bad, but I think he finishes Gane within 2 rounds.
 
That would suck actually. Having a champion that lost to the last 2 champions would just make the division feel even weaker than it already does.

Stop it kid. You can try to frame the fight any way you want. Everyone knows Frank was injured everyone knows why the fight went the way it went. And at the end of the day he won.

I disagree, it would just make those champs look better.

To think the division would feel weaker only because tom never fought the best is a bit offside for me.

Clown take (the second part, not the first). No, Gane isn't trash. He's a good HW. But thinking he'll beat Aspinall "really badly" inside 2 rounds standing...just...no. Gane has slick striking but he (like Tom) relies not just on footwork but speed. Except Aspinall is just as fast, probably faster. And hits way harder. And has the grappling threat, which affects how Gane has to deal with his striking.
 
You can never, ever count on anything at heavyweight. I would be surprised if Gane wins but it would hardly be unbelievable.

I was really hoping for a good dice roll on Jones vs Stipe. I will admit that I dislike Jones to the extent that I am hoping that Aspinall gets Gane out of there so quick that Jones' ego compels him to go back into the Octagon and gets smashed.

Champs that aren’t around anymore. So the current champion is a guy that lost to the last 2, makes the current division seem very weak. Whereas with Aspinall, you at least have the question, you know? He’s not the guy that lost multiple title fights now becoming the champ only because those guys left.
 
Would love to see this happen just to see the Jones haters melt down. However, I don’t think it’ll happen. Gane got flattened and nearly finished by Tai Tuivasa, and also choked out by old Jones so easily that it looked like a fix. If he beats Tom I’d be surprised.

Gane certainly isn't terrible but it didn't help your stance that same post of yours added that the guy that keeps knocking people out in under two minutes stands no chance on the feet with Gane though.

is also a fair way to look at it . Gane lost in title fights twice, yes. his fight with francis was very very close and he only lost via one fatal error which is not terrible for a young fighter like gane in his first title fight.

Aspinall has not faced a single fighter as good as Jones or Ngannou yet, So we dont know if aspinall is only champ because they are gone.

Beating Cryil, IMO is far more important for tom than beating Jones. Beating jones just means jones is old and past it, As expected. Gane, Is without a doubt, the best HW of the last 10 years signed to the UFC who is still there outside of tom himself..
