Was it? How did he hand it to us? It is divinely inspired but it is not like God handed it to us. Men wrote the words and you can argue how divinely inspired they are if you want. But it is not like the bible came out of the sky or something.

ps- it is not necessary to checkmate and atheist. They never give any argument for their position. You actually have to PLAY a game of chess before checkmating or being checkmated.

God told men his words
They wrote his words down In the bible
The bible says God existed

And yet man has changed the words in the bible many many times, so that we no longer know what the original source actually said.

That's not really true as most translations of the bible are not re-translated from the previous version, they are translated from the original greek/hebrew manuscripts. The old "telephone game" analogy doesn't actually apply to the bible, even though people like to pretend it is.

From what I understand, the bible is the most accurate ancient text in existence. If I'm wrong I'd love to see evidence to the contrary.

Don't get me wrong, I have a strong reverence for the bible, but....

We don't even have the original manuscripts. We have very old versions of many of the manuscripts that often disagree with each other on small but still significant points if we are talking word of God. Most Christians are reading King James which is written in old English which is hardly an accurate translation. If you read the Oxford NSRV, which most scholars would say is about the best English translation, you will see footnotes on nearly every page explaining how all the different versions disagree on the actual wording of specific parts. Why? Because over the centuries, scribes with specific agendas or interpretations have changed wording as needed to suit their beliefs.

And how should the Bible be interpreted? I've read it (up through Jeremiah so far) and I've yet to see the part where God wrote or said or inspired the phrase, "This book should be interpreted as completely literal."

God never spoke to any human being ever. Lets stick to facts that are verifiable in the real world, ok?

Actually this would be the case in the prophetic books. Divinely inspired for the most part means that God guided men in what they wrote. Most of the bible is not prophetic books. There are things like histories and wisdom and etc.

Again, you are proving you are dumb as fuck. Sorry for your mother's shame.

Sorry, but this is not fact.

Nothing "supernatural" is provable by science because science is the study OF THE NATURAL WORLD, which is not the supernatural
Should we say that MOTIVE does not exist either? It is something that cannot be PROVEN be scientific means

Oh, and we will just get even dumber following your words and say that the only things are true are those that are scientifically proven.....but how did I prove this statement??? Not scientifically.

oh, stick to your Highlight magazines

I'm familiar with the Oxford translation with all the footnotes. I'll have to do some more research on the rest of your points. But from what I remember off the top of my head, most of the contradictions are relatively minor, as far as the basic message goes.

I believe I'm still correct on my statement about the bible being the most accurate ancient text that exists today. Which is pretty impressive no matter how you look at it, imo.

Dogs that are purebreds aren't made of pure bread.

Anderson Silva is not actually a spider.

Which begs the question, what is a spyder, and is Kendall Grove actually one?

It wouldn't shock me if your last point were true. It is an amazing collection of documents whether or not you believe in it.

Lol. When I was taking a radiography course about 4 years ago our instructor was explaining what a neutron bomb was. Some guy quipped, "That would solve our Middle East problem," and the instructor shook his head and said, "I don't even want to know what that means."

Good times.

Psh

God made the universe
The universe made man
Man made the bible
Bible says God exist
So without God there would be no bible
But there is the bible and it says God exists and God made the universe

Therefore God exist

Not sure why you're arguing with me dude, I'm a believer.

That said, I'm still not following your logic.

Let's say that hypothetically, there is no god. What's to stop man from writing the bible himself? Let's leave motive out of it for now.

Get the God discussion out of this thread. We all know no one is changing their mind and it's fucking tedious.

Take that played out shit to the war room.
