Risking his legacy, title and career financial trajectory by fighting a dangerous striker with inpaired vision would be a very stupid choice. This is a weird situation.
- The dumbest voices are driving the bus.
- Any rational (wait for all the facts/only Tom knows how damaged his eye/vision is ) type of perspective is going to be overpowered by the shouting tards.
So what's left by default is a narrative that the victim of an illegal and arguably cheap tactic is being blamed for not allowing the perpetrator of the cheap shot to gain an advantage using an unpunished foul.
I think Tom trained for a fair fight, got a tough night at the office capped off with being booed for someone else's foul.
He may be a "front runner" or he may be capable of battling thru adversity and "digging deep" ... I'll wait to see how he handles a challenge that comes within the course of a fair fight.
Stupid people can't see past their own basic desires.
Risking his legacy, title and career financial trajectory by fighting a dangerous striker with inpaired vision would be a very stupid choice. Tom made the wise but unpopular choice. Tards can't see past their own temper tantrum of not getting a thing they wanted, so they are not capable of grasping that.
The reality is that it is nearly guaranteed that they will run it back in a rematch.
May the best man win, hopefully in decisive and devastating fashion and ideally in a fair fight without controversy.
I know. Because it takes so much to piss Dana off.You would have a good point if Tom at least made any attempt to continue. He didnt even take the 5 min and just wanted out. All he did was piss Dana off.
What? Competing in any full contact sport at a local amateur level makes one tougher than 90% of the population. It takes more mental toughness to even get in there than probably 90% of the population has.
For once I agree with you. Bad losses in MMA can often be career changing, so why would one willingly fight a notoriously quick and tricky stricker with a compromised vision? To please the same meathead alcoholics who will laugh at him for not seeing the headkick coming?Mentally weak? No. Smart? Yes. He refused to continue fighting after being fouled and poked in both eyes. More fighters should do the same thing in the future.
Why on earth should fighters keep fighting at a disadvantage, when their opponent didn't even have a point deducted? That foul against Aspinall should have been two points.
Why did you include HW champ as reason to not doubt his mental fortitude?Obviously not mentally weak, man is not only a UFC fighter but the HW Champ. Mentally weak is absurd.
However, I do think he did throw in the towel vs Ciryl as I don't think Tom was really feeling like himself last Saturday.
So he quit.Risking his legacy, title and career financial trajectory by fighting a dangerous striker with inpaired vision would be a very stupid choice.

Urijah Faber both broke his hands in a 5 rd fight and continued to fight with his elbows . Some people are warriors, others aren't. Tom is not.Why did you include HW as reason to not doubt his mental fortitude?
Tom was quite literally handed the belt without ever winning it, and then in his first ever title defence he screamed for a NC in a fight he was losing. Which you even admit he quit over. Where is the "HW champion mentality" that you brough up?
There's quite literally nothing to suggest Tom is mentally strong. Dude doesn't even win the chicken wing eating contests on his own YouTube channel.
Exactly. People are acting like just because you're a fighter, or have been handed a belt like Tom, that you must be tough. As though there hasn't been many clear examples of toughness ABOVE this.Urijah Faber both broke his hands in a 5 rd fight and continued to fight with his elbows . Some people are warriors, others aren't. Tom is not.
Yeah. The judges and the referee should be extra harsh in their calls on anyone who fights Aspinall. Because he’s such a good guy, how dare them. The rest of the fighters that deal with way worse fouls and don’t get the benefit of the doubt? Fuck ‘em.Mentally weak? No. Smart? Yes. He refused to continue fighting after being fouled and poked in both eyes. More fighters should do the same thing in the future.

Or just mandatory point deductions for all eye pokes, regardless of opponent.Yeah. The judges and the referee should be extra harsh in their calls on anyone who fights Aspinall. Oh yeah, and Ante Delija should have been the winner last weekend.
Dude I’ve been laughing my ass off. This is the funniest back to back weekend I’ve ever seen in my entire life of watching MMA.I feel bad for Aspinall haters, dudes haven’t slept in a week.
