Do you think Tom is a mentally weak person?

Tom is used to been the hammer, not the nail
Has not shown he has the heart and if he could fight through adversity compared to other fighters in his division

Has the skill and power but is too soy when the going gets tough in the octagon

It's one thing when you get an accidental injury and you have to take a loss.

It's another thing when your opponent fouls you with an illegal move, and now you have to fight at a disadvantage? When they didn't even get a point taken away? Bullshit. More fighters should refuse to keep fighting in Tom's position -- and they will, now that he's set the standard.

The ref should have immediately taken 2 points from Gane. That shit was egregious.

He may be a bit of a front runner, but I wouldn’t say he’s mentally weak.

He may also just be smart enough to know it’s not worth your health or vision to fight compromised. If there actually was damage to his eye, continuing to fight could make it much worse and lead to permanent damage.

The thing I keep seeing is "No damage! No damage!" And then posts ad nauseum about doctors saying no long term danger, they can't see anything serious, etc.

The thing is, none of that means his vision wasn't (potentially still is I guess) compromised. That's the ONLY thing that matters. If dude could only partially see, continuing a cage fight is beyond stupid. Did he panic and start saying "I can't see" too soon? Probably yeah. Is he trying to justify shit through all this posting on social media when he doesn't need to, which is just feeding the goobers more ammo to call him a quitter? Yep. But those are SEPARATE things as to whether it was a good idea to keep fighting.

This site is full of people who have never set foot in a gym to train. Who have never sparred a minute in their life. And who damn sure have never gotten into a cage to fight another guy that's been training to take your head off. I have twice. And both times the level of nerves I had I can barely describe. That was in bum fuck Iowa and bum fuck Illinois vs absolute clowns that I subbed in a combined 3 minutes and change for almost no money with a small crowd watching. And no fucking way would I even have thought about fighting with my vision compromised AT ALL. And this dude is fighting one of the best on the planet for the HW belt.

I think so. I also think fighters like Gane and Jones (who is even worse) also lack it. Too much "sweet science" in both boxing and mma and fighters wanting to look pretty instead of wanting to go out on their shield. Also, there's too many prima donas now.

If you actually believe this, then why are eye pokes fouls at all? Why are there threads on here on a weekly basis proposing changes to the gloves and automatic DQ for the 1st eye poke in a fight??

Jon Jones has gotten a slap on the wrist for serious crimes NUMEROUS TIMES and still can't go a few days without his little beverages. He cheats on his wife and refuses to take accountability for ANYTHING wrong he does. He refuses to fight the so called "weak opponent" even though he was offered a fortune to do so.

Who is the mentally weak one??

Yea man I hear ya'. For sure, there's no reason to fight compromised, whether there was actual damage or not. Agree. The truth is, he'd have no way of knowing the extent of the damage in that moment, and I don't think the ringside physician can make that kind of determination with a quick look and a flashlight. I've heard several people say that the ringside doc cleared him and it's all good, but you'd need a comprehensive exam to make that determination. It's smarter to live and fight another day.

It's just a different mentality from the old guard, who were willing to die in there for the hotdog brander.
Ilia, Islam , DP Jiri, Alex , Izzy, Khamzat and a few other high level championship level fights and contenders arw still like that, it's just that fighters are also open about the financial aspect as opposed to the past.

I personally believe fighters aren't paid as well due to the roster size being so large.

Obviously not mentally weak, man is not only a UFC fighter but the HW Champ. Mentally weak is absurd.

However, I do think he did throw in the towel vs Ciryl as I don't think Tom was really feeling like himself last Saturday.

I don't think the roster size impacts it, you still have the same number of fighters per event.

I think he talks about retirement too much. He talked about it after the eye poke. He talked about retiring after his knee injury in the first Blaydes fight too and even talks about retirement when the subject of money in the UFC is brought up.

i'm not mentally strong enough to think about things like that. I like turtles.

Oh look, an internet warrior. Why don't you try to take Aspinall's belt if you think it's easy?
nick-diaz.gif
because we aint fighters
ofcourse we question things and debate on the internet
on why others wont quit
and others quit and are soft and fragile right

yeah you gonna quote me and tell me to fight tom right now do you

you idiots are still at this, aren't you.

he got horribly fouled, the fight ended as a result. get over it.

Jones Stan’s are grieving their lost opportunity to screech “GaNe BeAt ToM!!1!1!1!! JONES GOAT1!!!!1”

They’re spending every waking moment talking about Tom Aspinall, making Tom their avatars, taking shits thinking about him, thinking about him in the shower, seeing Tom in their dreams, etc…

It’s sad, but everyone grieves differently I suppose.

UFC HW world champion Tom Aspinall bless.

The hardest part will be just getting him to fight more than once in a calander year.
