I love Islam. I love that Islam is converting people to fans and followers. Islam is proving to be the truth and I put my faith in Islam to prosper.

65 votes and zero "I Hate Him's"
interesting...

Anyone that's buddy-buddy with a genocidal maniac and thinks it's an honor to celebrate his belt with him is a zero in my book. Unquestionably great fighter but he can take a hike.

Voted dislike.

I am indifferent
He seems like a better dude than is boyfriend, fake-humble Khabibi

His fans, however, are insufferable
That's rich of you considering you were the most insufferable Olives fan out there .. Your spamming of literally every thread about Islam with one repetitive post of Islam's KO is still there bud. I love Islam for shutting you the fuck up most of all ..

I love him.
As a grappler, I am in awe of what he's able to do.
His wrestling takedowns, his Judo/Sambo takedowns, throws and trips and his beautiful Jiu-Jitsu.
Like, to be able to do this... So messed up.

I know because of his association with Khabib, he's automatically a lightning rod, but regardless of what you think of him personally, his friends, his associates, his religion, etc., as a fighter, he is truly a marvel to behold. Seeing the way he took his KO loss and used it as a lesson and as motivation to become the least-hit fighter in UFC history.
People frequently talk about how "There's levels to this" and were even saying that recently about Charles Oliveira. Seeing the way Islam dismantled him was just awe-inspiring.

Good fighter and new champ. Not my all-time fav or anything but no reason to dislike the guy. Let's see how he does.

You know what's more insufferable than his fans?
People who whine how insufferable his fans are.

Look at this

2 braindead Islam fans getting salty cuz they got called out

{<jordan}

Sad little mouthbreathers

Dude gets caught early on in his career and essentially tightens up just about every aspect of his game, and now he doesn't get hit.
Add the fact that since then he's had a nearly 2:1 finish to decision ratio (albeit against subpar competition prior to his title fight,) and dealt with Oliveira handily, and it's hard not to like him.

Not in the ATG great conversation yet; and don't know him or anyone who trains out of AKA who might be associated with him anymore, so I don't get 'invested;' but dude's a stud.

Hopefully he fights early and often.

You know what's more insufferable than his fans?

You know what's more insufferable than people who whine how insufferable... ad infinitum

I like him so far. He seems like a humble guy who's competitive, he wants to stay active while fighting the best in the world, and he's a good representative of the sport. Everything you could ask for in a champion, but it's early in his title reign so we'll see.

Except Tito Ortiz. Fuck him.

Is there a story? I've heard very mixed opinions from people that have met Tito IRL. They all range from him being polite and approachable to him being a complete d'bag.

First off nicely said.

Btw, who had a more deserving title shot Brock or Islam?
IMHO Neither.
But there's a huge difference here.

I was 100% against against Brock's.
However, while I do believe 100% that Islam was also undeserving, the comparison is quite unfair.
Because while the fact remains that Islam did not beat anyone worthy before getting a title shot, he did try to face RDA and Dariush, and it was not his fault he ended up facing Hooker and Green instead.
But at the same time, it is also obvious that he only got this push (and the huge jump in rankings) because of his association with Khabib.

Wow, no middle ground I guess. I don't love or hate any fighters, really. I root for some over others but that doesn't mean I hate one guy and love the other guy.

Do you guys watch fights for elite competition between two highly trained warriors or are you just a fan for popularity contest reasons? Seems a lot of Sherdoggers are the latter.
