I went with apathetic towards him. I’m not necessarily looking forward to his next fight but I won’t not watch it, and he doesn’t really say or do enough for me to give a shit about his personality.

He’s a savage in the cage though and crushes guys

Lived up to his hype and did what he does best to Oliviera. Made it look relatively easy.

So what's your thoughts about him now?

Did great against Charles and won the belt. Looks to be the goods.
They are talking about him as a pound for pound great and the guy still hasn't defended his belt.
He needs to go on a Khabib like run with that belt to cement his legacy because his resume is still paper thin.
I enjoyed how he fought against Charles and hope it continues as he can be pretty boring even as a finisher.

I'm indifferent. Glad he finally got a title shot though, it was only a matter of time he won the belt. I'd probably root for Dariush or Porrier over Islam but wouldn't have a favorite compared to the rest. I think he'd be better of just being a silent killer than trying to build a fictious personality, doesn't suit him.

I mean, he absolutely dominated and submitted a high level BJJ guy who was on all ATG run. He is looking pretty unstoppable, and right now he hasnt given me a reason not to love that.

Curious as to who you think deserved the title shot over Islam? He was ranked #4 when he fought Oliveira and the 3 guys ahead of him had already lost to Charles. Oliveira had an 11 fight win streak, Islam had a 10 straight wins.

I get that his resume wasn't the greatest but who else really was left for Oliveira to fight?
Well, see?
That's the thing.
How do you justify him being #4 without beating anyone from the top 5?
And why do you have to have someone? If no one is deserving, let Charles fight a money fight (i.e. Conor as he wanted) or move up, or even... don't push him to fight (He did not want to fight this year again).
You could have used the Abu Dhabi event to get Islam to fight Beneil. And then the winner could have fought Charles in Brazil! Would make a lot more sense IMHO.

"Have some patience."
Why, that's the fun on here. Guys go from GOAT to can in no time. When the hype starts building it gets out of control. It's beautiful. Rogan crying over Rousey knocking out Bethe. These people believe their own hype. I love it.

Well, IMHO there's a difference.
This is Rogan's job! To hype fighters like they are so special (once in a lifetime) so you can't miss it (and pay for the next PPV).

It is us (fans) who should not buy into all that bullshit.

It isn't a case of dislike, like, or hate. I root for Americans as much as possible. I would have loved to see Usman, Nigerian born American, and Islam fight but unfortunately Edwards took care of that with hard work and stroke of luck. I wanted the Usman fight before he got too old but alas I'm afraid it probably won't happen now. I'll settle for Colby but Usman proved he was better twice.

I dont think he ever move up. Just like Khabib. I think there pride is so big that they simply dont dare to go up and risk loosing. It would be nice if fighters some time just says that they dont feel like moving up. Fair i think.

Don't really care if he loses or wins, I just want great LW title fights. I was very impressed with his performance against Oliveira though.

I doubt anyone hates Islam. No one hates him. It is a matter of whether people are a fan of his fighting style or not. I being a Muslim, was rooting for Charles simply because he had proven to be the more exciting and well-rounded fighter. In Islam's fight against Charles, he proved he is not just a wrestler looking for takedowns and that he could really stand and trade with the best strikers and beat them at their own game. That definitely makes him far more interesting and dangerous.

Incredible fighter and he makes a bunch of dumb ass sherdoggers upset. What’s not to like?
