I was always a fan but became a bigger fan after the Oliveira performance. He showed a lot of improvement in the standup and also proved that he can thrive under pressure.

The judo element in his game is something I really enjoy. I was a fan of Karo Parysian's style and Islam reminds me a lot of Karo with those judo trips and throws. Khabib had judo too but Islam is more elegant and his overall grappling feels refined.

Because while the fact remains that Islam did not beat anyone worthy before getting a title shot, he did try to face RDA and Dariush, and it was not his fault he ended up facing Hooker and Green instead.
But at the same time, it is also obvious that he only got this push (and the huge jump in rankings) because of his association with Khabib.

Curious as to who you think deserved the title shot over Islam? He was ranked #4 when he fought Oliveira and the 3 guys ahead of him had already lost to Charles. Oliveira had an 11 fight win streak, Islam had a 10 straight wins.

I get that his resume wasn't the greatest but who else really was left for Oliveira to fight?

I don't hate him, he seems more likable than Khabib but I can't root for anyone associated with Ali.

Seen his fights not really exciting on the feet

My thoughts is that we shouldn't be so fucking polarized.
And we shouldn't have to laud anyone the GOAT when they just got a belt without any title defense!

I don't like him nor hate him.
he beat one guy I Liked very much, and now I am looking forward to find out what he can do.
But let's not be so blind. He got an undeserving title shot (not his fault). But he has much to prove yet, and I am excited for what the future can bring.

But please!!! Let us get our conclusions at the fucking END of his career.
IMHO he is just getting started.
Have some patience!
"Have some patience."
Why, that's the fun on here. Guys go from GOAT to can in no time. When the hype starts building it gets out of control. It's beautiful. Rogan crying over Rousey knocking out Bethe. These people believe their own hype. I love it.

Yeah I get the fight with Volk was already set up

But it’s a bad look to immediately call out a 145er, especially after Dariush had the performance he had… then Khabib tries to set it up as fighting for #1 P4P status in the post fight interview he was for some reason a part of
' for some reason'
Hes Islams coach and best friend ,and DC asked him to speak... pretty simple really.

I acknowledge his existence as a human being and my indifference towards him is overwhelming.

i kinda still dislike the guy since i am a huge oliveira fan and hope he gets the belt back someday.

but yeah he impressed me last fight.
would rather see him against dariush or someone else than volkonovski. not hyped at all for that.

Why in the world do you need emotions like love and hate attached to an athlete?

I enjoy watching Islam compete and I think he's a really fun and unique challenge in the division. We don't see that many specialists make it to the top these days, and he is one of the best specialists in MMA right now.

He's an excellent fighter and apparently he's Khabib 2.0 with excellent standup.

He's going to be a very tough nut to crack.

Only question is if he's going to be around a while because he's now 31 years old and Khabib was 32 when he retired.

As far as Islam is personally, not much is really known about him.

I really respect his skills. Amazing fighter but there’s some fighter that just don’t tickle my pickle.

I have the same kinda feeling with Usman.

I dislike him because he beat Charles and he refuses to fight in his natural division, much like Khabib.

Love to watch him fight and love his goofy face, seems like a pretty good dude too from what I've watched, so went with "I love him"
