Im not in the US, so i didnt had to go to ESPN+/ PPV to watch, so im guessing nothing really changes for me, im guessing every person that was on screen will still be on screen, its all good if you were a paying customer in the US, isnt it? No more $80 PPV.

and what incentive do they have to stack the numbered cards like they do with the PPVs?
Bring in more viewers, also you do know they sell tickets, right? Gate revenue is still depending on the quality of the card, the sponsor money as well. There is also the chance that a person will subscribe for a numbered card.

They're not stacking the majority of the numbered cards now for the most part, so whatever incentive they have now given how low the PPV sales have been in recent years.

Yes I know. It has become worse and worse. And that will now continue now that the numbered cards wont even have to be paid for to watch.

"It's free ya goofs what are u complaining about!?"

We'll see in a couple of years. They will want start off with a bang so can't take those numbered cards as evidence.

And they haven't been stacking the cards because they have been given money bags for ESPN so it doesn't matter to them anymore THAT'S why the cards are shit.

This is just taking it fully in that direction by becoming solely a subscription based product.

Love. At least for now, $7.99 for all PPVs and Fight Night cards. The streaming itself can't be worse than ESPN.

It might not be a great deal for the fighters but well, I'm not a fighter. Very fan-friendly deal and UFC is making more money than they have ever made with this.

It's a win either way as at least folks don't have to $85+ for watered down PPVs like the ones we have now for the most part.

Have to see what the card quality is like but I like the elimination of ppv. Yes it probably means less stacked cards but maybe it will mean a better average card.

I said this will mean the quality will continue to drop

You seemingly refuted that and went "not sure why this is so hard to understand??"

now you're going "yeah the cards will suck but we wont have to pay for it"

Looks like goalpost moving to me

or more watered down cards

volume baby, volume

that's where we have been heading for the last few years anyways

Nope.

You said it meant there were no more PPV cards, as in no more numbered cards which isn't true and that was the point I was refuting and I am not defending the card quality either.

I am just making points clear.

No point in debating you further as my points are clear.

I think the deal is the same amount of cards now. So they shouldn’t get more watered down. It’s just a matter of if they do roughly the same thing or distribute the better fights more evenly with no need to sell PPVs.

Jesus christ, that's semantics at best.

Will I PAY 80 bucks to watch a singular card? No?

Then stfu

I very much doubt that anyone read my comment and didn't realize what my point was

Well I guess you didn't LOL

No point in debating me further because you're losing every interaction

Well they weren’t/aren’t getting any money out of me on espn but i already have paramount so there’s that I guess. I like this deal. As for the quality of cards, the incentive to stack cards will always be to get more people to buy subscriptions, however much they care about that. Can’t really sit here and act like cards have been that great lately anyways

What I have trouble understanding are how are these numbers evaluated? How is the UFC worth $8 billion (ESPN deal and Paramount deal combined) when their biggest star (McGregor) has not fought since 2021 and their biggest female star (Rousey) has not fought since 2016.

I am sure Paramount Plus will jack up their annual subscription fees, or charge extra to se UFC events, charge even more to eliminate ads from running during events.

(They rarely stack the PPVs as it is, but)

Ad rates

Mark Shapiro said all numbered cards will likely be on CBS

The bigger the card, the bigger the ad rates

Fighter pay is gonna be a huge question now + how much the subscription will actually cost.

I highly doubt it'll stay at 9.99/12.99/mo

Well I hate ESPN and I'm glad they're leaving ESPN after this year. I'll never spend another dime on ESPN.
I'm not happy about having to pay for Paramount+ I was hoping for Netflix which I already pay for. But I guess I'll have to pay for Paramount+ instead of ESPN+ <Fedor23>
I'm happy that there's no more PPV, I bought damn near every one from the start of the UFC, or split with the homie etc.........
