Diego Lopes absolutely worked Jean Silva - Looked worst than it actually was.

I think its also worth adding to this, Silva didn't lose just because of his heavy pressure, he was spamming spinning elbows on the #2 guy in the division.

The amount of showboating he did against the most elite opponent he's ever faced was horrific fight IQ.

Diego is awesome and good everywhere, he's obviously full of shit saying "the punches didn't hurt" he got Silva face kicked in the first 30 seconds and tagged easily 10 more times with heavy shots. His chin is great and so is his fight IQ because he's already fought the best in the world.

Learning lesson for Silva and wherever he is today he certainly regrets fighting Diego with zero respect. He'll learn from this IMO
I felt this too. Such a dummy in there. So needlessly reckless.

Part of the reason I dislike Silva so much he’s gone past confidence and encroached into total arrogance.

He did some stupid shit in there last night

How do you say he's clueless when he escaped an absolutely horrific position when both guys were dry and fresh? His grappling and counter grappling are great.

What you meant to say is Diego is one of the best MMA adapted grapplers in the world. Look how competitive his fight with Mosavar was on zero notice, coming off the regional circuit. Virtually no one in the world at 145lbs could have done that.

Its strange to me how many people are saying Silva sucks instead of giving Diego his flowers. Dude is absolutely elite and now he has the experience to match his gifts.
After all that theatre watching him get 10/8'd in the first was joyful. I hate all the over emotional posturing and posing.
In the cold light of day, he did well to escape being finished and is undoubtably a handful. Diego just better.

To me it looked like Silva was clearly better but clearly stupid! He basically took himself down twice in bad positions being reckless/careless. He got kod rushing in reckless head first. Silva was piecing him up on feet but Lopez took it well but still was taking alot of shots. Still imo if Silva doesnt fight like a moron I think he wins 9 of 10 his arrogance killed him.

If he learns from this Silva better for it as I think he could be tbe best at FW if heads on straight- but dude is nuts
Clearly the dumbest nerd of the bunch

He’s not champion material though mostly because he’s legit stupid and that’s hard to fix. It’s in his nature just like a scorpion crossing the river w a dog on his back

He’s the guy who thinks the best defense is offense

I hear what you are saying, however I will never miss a Silva fight because he's a well rounded action fighter and wildly entertaining.

In a world where the UFC ran the league like a real sport instead of the circus coming to town - I would judge Silva more harshly. The cold hard truth is you simply will not get big opportunities or ANY marketing from the UFC unless you are brash, or otherwise have some outside influence/audience that benefits them.

Silva is just playing the game but this time it costs him big. He'll learn from this experience. This is some FAFO, Diego Lopes is a world champion caliber fighter this isn't Bryce Mitchell, you better show up with discipline.

Nah, Silva was finding his range and landed some pretty nice shots that would have put a lot of guys down. Then he got over zealous and ate a nasty counter elbow. Not an easy fight at all, it was a dogfight.
This is exactly what happened. I don't get what some of the people on here are seeing haha. Dude got dominated on the ground, but was doing great on the feet. Lopes just happens to have a better chin and landed a well timed shot. Silva needs to work on not chasing the finish and his bottom game and he's good. Lopes already lost his title fight but Volk has lost a step so if he gets a shot again, he could win it.

Excellent fight. Lopes looked lethal in the grappling and Silva looked lethal in the standup. We all knew someone was getting stopped. I didn’t like how many face punches Lopes was willing to eat in the second round though. Maybe he really had no respect for the punching power but it was a bad visual. counting on your iron chin to always see you through, seems like a bad habit.

Ya there was a moment there where it looked like Lopes was about to get his chin cracked.
He actually looked exactly like he does in UFC 5 (Xbox) when he gets rattled. It blew my mind actually.

This little stutter step Queer Street thing while retreating backwards a little.

Was laughing so loudly

What surprised me most was that nasty teep
Super sneaky and effective w that thing. He should’ve employed it more

uFC 5 Xbox did a BANGER of a job on Lopes. Uncanny how accurately depicted he is in that game…facial expressions …reactions to impacts. Fantastic

If Doo Ho Choi gets the fight w Silva that he’s been actively pursuing, he definitely should drop the superboy thing for the night and come out with nerd glasses

Come out as Clark Kent

It was very back and forth until the end.

Diego took him down, mounted Silva, and beat this shit out of Silva, Silva escaped and they were back and forth on the feet until the end of round one, round 2 Silva was beating the shit out of Lopes on the feet, and then Lopes landed that elbow and polished him off.

I don't know why people can't just be objective or honest about fights, especially when the guy they wanted to win did in fact win lol.

It was a beautiful performance, I got a lot of time for Diego Lopes and he consistently has the p4p freshest haircut in the UFC.

But in all seriousness war Diego Lopes dude is a G.

Silva was nowhere near finishing Diego at any point in that fight whereas it was the complete opposite for Diego.
I dunno. Those strikes were accumulating. He would have dropped off a cliff at some point. Jean got reckless.

Agree with everything but the performance part, privately he should use this performance as the guide to what needs to be changed. HE can take the hit, he can stand in front of a guy and he is the best in the division (maybe) on the ground.. All the hard stuff is good, just learn to move and strike thinking defensively and see what happens. He has nothing to lose and is in a really good spot with a a huge fan base. I forget his other fights on the feet so maybe this was him trying to prove something to Jean but he had me screaming at the TV during parts of the 2nd round.

Broad ass shoulders but thin legs and narrow waist. Definitely a unique build & stance. His silhouette would be unmistakable.
He oddly reminds me of Crispin Glover's Lane in River's Edge

Hope TS is sober again and had his fun.

Diego threw a blind spinning ellbow to get off the cage. Silva pretty much landed at will before that and hurt Diego
Gave him 2 takedowns by overextending and having too much fun.

Stupid fight from Silva, Diego capitalized, all good for me.
Disciplined Silva wins this fight 7/10 though.
Silva looks small for the division.
A lot of punches and ellbows to the back of the head, also with the first takedown. But that's mma, I don't care this time.

Make I Thappen was being extremely underrated. I started to lean towards him winning pre fight.

Great performance, and it seems moving to Mexico has helped him to absorb some Mexican genes and give him an iron chin.

It was a calculated elbow thrown with precision . Casuals think Diego was in danger of getting stopped , he was biding his time . letting the kid get increasingly reckless .

Experience beat brashness and it was beautiful to watch.
