Media Did Dubois hit Usyk low??

Was it a lowblow?

It looked to me like most of the punch was below the navel nut not all of it.
mate. there's like 3 videos that clearly show this isn't the only point of impact. taking one frame out of an uppercut is not telling the whole story... not to mention even in the pic you posted half the glove is below the belt, near his nuts, and exactly where the cup is.

It has to be fully below the belt to be low. Your words saying it was half. If you put your fist on your belly button dead centre. That would be a low blow? No.

Never really thought about this - there are obviously many rules and regulations relating to hand wraps and gloves, but if there are protector / cups / shorts regulations they are certainly less prescriptive and / or enforced.
It was brought up back in the day to add an arbitrary line on fighters trunks that would be agreed upon both camps to indicate where shots would be considered low, it was considered a silly idea but now it seems like a great idea.

Exactly. Dubois did this numerous times. His coach is on record saying it before the fight that they have to “rough him up” and “make it uncomfortable” too.

Euphemisms for illegal shitt. The old smack the nuts and then come over the top routine.

Another thing is the getting up at 9 1/2 count shitt he was doing. Repeatedly. That’s the shitt you do to afterwards claim you got up but the whole A-side / B-side thing went against you and it was a house fighter gift etc etc.
He was ready to give up the first time around but the ref waved it on. The last time Dubois held down for just a tad longer.

Sneaky mfker.
He hit Usyk just below the elbow... So either Usyk has the longest arms that his elbow can be below his belly button while at the same time keeping a high guard.... Or Usyks balls are where his appendix should be

when Usyk went down he looked like someone who was punched in the nuts. If you've been hit in the nuts you know how it feels and what it looks like.

Anyone hit in the nuts while the adrenaline is going knows it takes a couple of seconds for the pain to register... It's not an instant thing that'll drop you straight away

At the end of the day this was controversial.

And people saying no controversial because...

Nah this was controversial. I don't know if it would change the winner or not. I'll say it wouldn't have. Go and watch the Zab Judah low blow vs khan and have them explain why it's a legal blow.

It has to be all the way low. Put your fist on your belly button and say "low blow" put loud if that makes you feel better.

Way to post a photo that is before the punch makes contact btw.

Not the most controversial thing I've seen in boxing but Dubois probably does have a right to complain.
In a sport currently hurting BADLY in terms of title fight matchmaking, this is likely to earn Dubois a rematch and decent payday.

Regardless of the validity of the call the narrative now exists that Dubois got robbed of a body shot ko stoppage of the champ and with DuBois being English speaking and the champ not really, that is a story people will get behind

Specially because:

A) Tyson Fury seems to want nothing to do with Usyk and has his circus sideshow freakshow fight booked.

B) who the fuck else is gonna fight Usyk that anyone will give a fuck about?

While it may not be the most controversial in terms of the actual rule interpretation, it may wind up being one of the biggest stories in boxing in the summer 23 -winter 24 time period.

Add this to the list of things fight fans pick one side of then cry that anyone who disagrees is full of shit.

It's a gray area.

Ref discretion.

Champ got the call.
.....................

If the call would have went the other way:

That would have been fair too.

And Usyk would have had to beat the count. (Which we will never know)

It's controversial at the end of the day. They can rematch.

Lots of the photos posted aren't even when the punch made its contact.

Ive seen really low shots end fights and the ref counts. It's just the call we got they make errors in every sport.

I'll just end it with this was controversial and people have different opinions than for what's a low blow even.

Watch Judah vs khan guys.

This. And had the KD been validated we would have had a major shitstorm among fans anyway. Boxing gonna boxing.

Finally got a chance to watch the entire fight this morning. Usyk's navel is never visible during the fight. Not in the intro, refs instructions or ever during the fight, so stop showing that pic of him 10 minutes after the fight where you can.
This.

I hope more people would actually watch the fight before commenting so we don’t have to put up with posts like the one below. Regardless of what you think happened, posting a pic from after the fight to prove a point about what happened in the fight is beyond retarded.

His belly button is visible here, you can put the images together and realize it’s low.
