Was it a lowblow?

Similar situation with the Kovalev-Ward 2 fight with the referee’s discretion being the deciding factor.

That's dirty. Wrong decision by this ref that night. Ref on Usyk/Dubois made the right call and deserves props. If you want to win work your ass off and win with honor, not dirty and fouling.

It was low but the fight was pretty much over by then. Kovalev was out on his feet from a perfectly legal head shot. He was likely never going to recover. One or two more legal follow-up shots and he would've been finished.

you're asking me this question after going into incredible detail on how a GROIN PROTECTOR does not, in fact, PROTECT THE GROIN.

The cup protects the groin against severe damage (up to literal castration which can happen with a precise hard shot). The trade-off is that it makes it more vulnerable to light damage (as in, hurts pretty bad for a minute but no long term effects).

Can't believe there are people calling for a rematch here - Dubois boxed better than i expected but what did he to merit a rematch? He was soundly beaten.

They are calling it just because they know he isn't getting it. If Usyk/Dubois 2 was booked same people would say booooo as nobody expects Dubois to win a rematch.

It was clean as a whistle but nobody really wanted Dubois to win anyway so everyone got what they wanted, but pretending Usyk wasn’t essentially as good as stopped in 5th is hilarious, it seemed like he was trying to get up and couldn’t. That said, Usyk came back and did what he was supposed to and the Fury fight still looks good.

How has nobody picked up on that yet? This controversial topic needs to be discussed in-depth on here.

Damn I never even really thought about it, you just blew this topic wide open. Come on guys, get over here this could be a really interesting discussion

You realize with a proper ruling he would have been given 5 minutes to recover right?

Of course. Except it didn't go that way did it? Here's another recent fight ending on a low blow. Virgil Hunter claimed that he didn't stop the fight due to that direct hit to the nuts but of course he did. The end result was a TKO for Bud.

the rules are also no leaning over at the waist.

you're also not supposed to turn your back to your opponent which
Yoan Pablo Hernández in germany did in several fight.

While I think this was a low blow, this incident is a reminder that boxing needs to stop allowing guys to pull their shorts up to their tits. And use smaller gloves.

The current system alllows guys (yes, they have to have the skills to take advantage of it) to create artificial defensive barriers that reduce the exposed area for opponents to land.
