After seeing multiple low blows and recalling what they said they'd do pre-fight this was no accident. It appears that they absolutely were part of the gameplan. Glad it backfired on them so badly. No rematch.

He didnt have to get hit in the balls for it to be illegal, as long as he’s hit below where the ref points at during the instructions its illegal and I dont recall the referee pointing it out to Dubois

i understand that a low blow is anything below the belt line. i'm saying the way Usyk reacted, was as if he had been hit in the nuts. but where the punch actually landed was no where near any normal human male's genitals. i'm also saying i think Usyk's shorts were unnaturally high but that's par for the course in boxing.

it doesn't need to be directly into your nuts for it to hurt your nuts. that's an unfortunate side effect of cups. you get hit square in the balls, they're not going to explode like fucking footballs, because there's a metal protector around them. you get hit hard enough at the edge of it, or get it grazed by a big uppercut, it will rattle your jewels to the point you'll want to vomit.

it may protect your nuts from permanent damage, but it makes the target bigger and more likely to hit. it's a trade off.

not saying it's you, but a lot of people on this board have never actually boxed and it really shows. getting hit / kicked anywhere on the cup fucking sucks, and is rightfully illegal.

I don't get the outrage at all. Usky never faked that before. You have team Dubois on mic talking about doing stuff like that and this wasn't the only time. It was was a very obvious strategy to counter Usyks technical superiority with dirty tricks.

Then you have ringside spectators telling they even heard how the punch connected to Usyks cup . Even without the video this is so overwhelming . One of the last cases I would expect foul play

You can see in multiple of the replays throughout this thread that it lifts the entire groin guard with the force of the shot. A groin guard in Boxing isn't like a metal egg shaped cup you slip into your shorts, it the protects the whole genital area as per @randomg1t point about avoiding the explosion of your nuts.

If that piece of equipement gets uppercutted at the top then its gonna force the whole thing to ride up, giving your nuts a big ol' whack. The idea that Uysk was intentionally faking or lying about this shot having caused pain in his nuts doesen't hold any water to me.

The ref should have been clear about the belt line in the pre-fight instructions in the ring but Barry Jones is completely correct to say that, in the absence of any special instructions by the ref, if the shot lands on the groin guard then it illegal. On my first couple viewings I though it was more borderline as to how bad it was but from different angles I think it obviously lands square on the groin guard and lifts it up. I've been hit with shots like that and believe me you're going to feel as though someone has just dinged you straight in the testicles immediately afterwards.

I don't like to accuse boxers of lacking heart as it's easy for me to say sitting here at my PC, but with Dubois' I really think that's the case. He has massive power but when that fails he just looks befuddled and doesn't know which way to turn. He shouldn't have even had this title shot because Lerena beat him (3 KDs in a single round).
