Media Did Dubois hit Usyk low??

Was it a lowblow?

This is kind of what I would consider borderline. Just due to the shorts being high and the arch and angle of the Uysk's body. I honestly see both arguments here. So in situations like this we have to just respect the refs call and move on.

Just another shitty open ended subjective loophole that ruins fights. Typical boxing.
Everyone's anatomy is different but how high and the size of the waist band belt on trunks needs to be regulated.

I don't think it was an intentionally dirty shot.
I also see a lot of talk of Usyk battling on and beating the count if there was one. However, Usyk could of beat the count and got put down again with another shot to the body.

If Fury is still talking out of his ass and won't fight Usyk, I'm cool with a stay busy rematch. Wilder hasn't really earned another shot ahead of anyone else. Kind of losing interest in Joyce, Hrgovic, Zhang getting a shot too. They should battle it out and finish some of their unsettled business.

Polish public actually is lesser pro Ukr oriented than mass media attempts to portray. Not likely they will care who will win.

While if hall loaded with hot and angry ukrainians then....ref does have huge risk to be deNazified by crowd.

Poland's pro boxing scene is approx like in U.K. They are learning from british beauty in 80 ies textbooks.
Briedis when had finished one opponent never had anymore fights in Poland.

One lad from my area had fight in Poland when after pro fight judge collected judges cards and sec announced his win on cards.
After opponent's team protest they immediately told that there was mistake and scored fight for A side local guy.:D

Poles aren't bad ppl but their pro boxing scene is like U.K or better to tell Ottke era in Germany:(
 
Finally got a chance to watch the entire fight this morning. Usyk's navel is never visible during the fight. Not in the intro, refs instructions or ever during the fight, so stop showing that pic of him 10 minutes after the fight where you can.

The ref failed in his pre fight instructions. He never made a distinction on the belt line.

Dubois hit him with a pretty clean shot right on the navel. The ref made a bad call and Usyk milked it to recover.

THAT is what happened and you all know it. I'm glad Dubois quit, no one wants a lottery winner champ but Usyk had a close call there, like it or not.

Usyk has never done a good job protecting his body, there's a reason why opponents go there on him. Its why he plays the ref every time he gets hit to. the body. Like many boxers, he doesn't take a body shot well.

Funny thing is, Dubois actually had his trunks higher. The ref did a bad job in the ring basically. I don't blame Usyk or Dubois.

I don't agree with your post.
Yes, Usyk is more contentrated on head etc rather than body.
While he had prime shape Gassiev etc stuff.... and Gassiev wasn't " puny poor bum ". Stuff with weight more than usually Frazier had in the ring he defeated Dorticos only because managed to slow him down after liver blow and then was able to continue processing.
Usyk isn't Loma, he never had undervalued his opponents and even had refused to talk rude shittalks in order to boost up tickets sales.
He even afforded to walk alone in area where he had scheduled title fight.
Maybe he is more casual and simple than you.

Also to defeat body blows he does have casual classic flowcharts.
One from these is to hit with elbow opponent's hand in up - down mode with elbow in moment when hand is traveling to liver for example.

I don't see the correlation between your post and mine... the guy i quoted is English like myself and is calling Usyk a cheat.

Dubois' own camp admitted that they might have to break the rules and play dirty to beat Usyk, and yet Usyk is being called a cheat. Priceless.

I don't believe anyone is gutted Dubois is not the champ right now, is all I'm saying. I think most people saw something questionable and don't like it.

Gotcha

Usyk took full advantage, its a shame Dubois had legitimately gone low before in the fight so Usyk was expecting it and knew exactly how to react.

People can like or dislike whatever they want. It's the people shouting robbery and corruption that need to get a grip. Others are saying Dubois lost because he's black...

Never really thought about this - there are obviously many rules and regulations relating to hand wraps and gloves, but if there are protector / cups / shorts regulations they are certainly less prescriptive and / or enforced.

On my first couple viewings I though it was more borderline as to how bad it was but from different angles I think it obviously lands square on the groin guard and lifts it up. I've been hit with shots like that and believe me you're going to feel as though someone has just dinged you straight in the testicles immediately afterwards.

so the groin guard doesn't actually guard the groin and in fact enhances attacks to the groin? sounds like boxing needs to get their shit sorted.

mate. there's like 3 videos that clearly show this isn't the only point of impact. taking one frame out of an uppercut is not telling the whole story... not to mention even in the pic you posted half the glove is below the belt, near his nuts, and exactly where the cup is.

They let guys far too often hike them up so much that you can’t even see their navel.

If your navel is visible a punch on the belt line could theoretically hit the top of the cup.

But if your navel is not visible a punch on the belt line would seem impossible to hit the cup.
