This was the last, and thus most up to date message from him, and it is clear that after the adrenaline wore off from that islam fight, he came to his senses and decided not to fight so soon again. I'm not talking about him taking a rest in order to some how magically get a good chin. I'm talking about him taking a break for his health. These people are humans, you know?

And none of this implies that he'd be taking a huge step back in competition when he comes back.

He really should just take a break and not go from camp to camp. The UFC did him so dirty, by forcing that Abu Dhabi fight and then announcing the card in Rio.
I understand that he would like to fight in Brazil and there really is no headliner yet for the Rio event, but I find it great that Charles is not letting them to force him to take this fight.

Poor Fiziev, almost got the Gaethje and Oliveira fight only for them to fall through the cracks. I wasn't aware of this post, I assumed Charles still maintained the stance he had post Islam fight, if he feels he needs to take a break and doesn't plan being on the Brazil card then I think nothing of this, no harm in him taking a 6 month break to recover his mind, heart and body. A little disappointed, this was the fight I wanted to see get made for the Brazil card, it made the most sense.

I don't know what they'll do with Fiziev, but I'm still hoping he somehow gets the winner of Poirier vs. Chandler, and I'm hoping it's poirier early next year. I won't be surprised if they do Dariush vs. Fiziev, though. Dariush has already shown a ton on interest in that fight.

I just hope that Dariush will get the title shot and no number one contender bs in between. Only if the champ is sitting out for a long time and Dariush wants to stay active.

Yeah, its just bad for the division. Chandler vs Poirier was the worst possible fight the UFC could make at 155lbs, those guys needed to give others the opportunity but now we will have Poirier/Chandler/Gaethje panhandling like bums for their 3rd cracks at titles while guys like Fiziev and Dariush derail each other. It's horrid. The crazy thing is Fiziev, Dariush, Gamrot....They all asked for these Chandler/Poirier/Gaethje fights, but those guys had no interest in taking them and get rewarded for it. Its starting to feel a lot like boxing. I'm gonna sit in my corner and enjoy Damir vs Arman while I cry.

Fiziev doesn't deserve that fight lmao he has no fan interest

This fight was never offered to Charles, it's 100% fake start to finish. This source should be banned from being posted here in the future after this imo.

I think Figgy / Moreno 4 as a headliner with possibly Nunes vs Aldana as the co-main is perfectly suitable for the Brazil PPV.

I think Charles vs. Gamrot would be the perfect rebound fight for charles. Gamrot is still top ten, still highly regarded, but also not really known for hurting people with his hands, so charles chin could get a break, and the grappling would be very fun.

Fiziev hasn't fought since July, honestly not sure what they do with him time wise.

JG nesting on an absurd #3 ranking, refusing to fight rising contenders, ideally he is finally forced to fight one of these guys in Gamrot, Tsarukyan or Fiziev. I think Fiziev would be most appropriate.

I like Gamrot or Tsarukyan for Charles. Seems appropriate, fresh matchup, big opportunity for both of those guys.

Wise choice, imo. It’s a pity he won’t be fighting in Brazil. But rushing back into a dangerous fight would not be smart.

He’s earned a break. I hope he takes at least 6 months off. Late spring or even early summer sounds good.

And it’s hard to imagine that anybody would fault the guy, or talk shit about him taking a break.

I don't want to go all conspiracy theory mode like I usually do when talking about the UFC and Oliveira but I certainly feel like they are against him for whatever reason. Had to fight Gaethje in his hometown, had to go to Abu Dhabi for Islam and that scale shit.. They didn't take GSP's belt when he missed by 0.4lbs but they took Charles belt even tho they confirmed the fighter scale was wrong.

sounds like a bunch of poor charles apologist excuses.

Fucking lol at Charles fighting more quickly than Islam, and against an actual LW contender.

That said, terrible idea to fight a dangerous striker so quickly after you just got dropped by Islam of all people. Charles can be more reckless here as he doesn't have to fear the ground game, same way he fought Chandler, Poirier, and Gaethje, but still. Might go down and out this time coming back so soon.

Still, banger of a fight.
Every thread here you are lolling at Islam and throwing hate his direction and all because Conor lost to a teammate of his years ago...What a sad waste of time, I'd hate to be that obsessed with another man...

Ah, so the timeline is:
  1. "MMA Uncensored" (whoever the fuck they are) claimed Helwani reported that Oliveira and Fiziev were fighting.
  2. Sherdog got excited
  3. Oliveira denied he would do it
  4. Helwani denied he ever said it.
source.

There's a less in there for sherdoggers...somewhere....

But whenever it was someone added "(Edit: Charles says no)" to the title, I wish they'd updated the Original Post with the details as well.
