My vision is really bad. I'm on a desktop at work with decent size double monitors, but if I take off my glasses, the I can barely make out what 52 point font says. I could still spar without glasses.

Yea this is something you to have to take into consideration, everyone that has glasses dont have the same vision without them. I know some people who can see "okay'ish" without and some people who cant see shit without them.

Also this is close combat. Almost any other sport would suck to participate in with bad vision. Not martial arts tho

"Alpha Male Asshole" isn't some game cartridge that we are born with like Peek-a-Boo (have you ever had to TEACH a child to play that game? Hell, no!), it is a consequence of people using their free will.

I can vouch for this, but as a far-sighted person. I have a pretty strong prescription but because I'm far-sighted, I still have enough functioning sight without them, although it's very poor. As opposed to a near-sighted person, that if they had an equally strong prescription, they wouldn't be able to see anything. The best way to explain is like a camera lens. It's like my eyes are set to infinity focus, where a near-sighted person's would be set to the opposite (then again, I can't really speak for near-sighted people, obviously, so feel free to check me if I'm wrong).

I always took my glasses off in kickboxing/bjj, and the adrenaline does give your brain enough kick that you can see better without your glasses. Not just adrenaline though, as basic working out in general helps as well. Obviously not perfect, but much better than when I take my glasses off sitting at my desk.

Also might be why he can't get laser correction. I looked into this myself a while back (as I was training kb/bjj at the time) and was told that laser correction doesn't work well with far-sighted people. The surgical option for my case (at least when I looked into it) was essentially surgically placing a contact lense on my cornea. I wasn't really into that. Not too sure what Oli's case is but he might be in a similar situation to my own.

I’ve often wondered if this plays any part in his lack of head movement? It’s something his haters harp on. I wonder if he bobs and weaves too much if he might actually lose his focus more easily? And therefore he might actually be picking the lesser of two evils?

I can speak from experience. I'm -6 on both eyes. Something weird happens in sparring and grappling where you adjust to the conditions. You don't see better, but you're able to work with it. Grappling is fine, long distance is the hardest part.

Contact lenses in a fight are dangerous and could damage your eyes.
Lasik is scary, they stick a needle in your eye. It discourages a lot of people from doing it.
