"hey this guy ain't giving up his car to take the bus! wHat a mOroN!"

the left has no solution other than tyranny.

There are solutions, you don't really seem to understand any of them, but ignoring that, your position seems to be, well I don't like the proposed solutions so I'll pretend the problem doesn't exist. Not exactly an intelligent analysis of the situation.

What's really sad about you guys constantly bitching about the ultra rich is that you don't see that they're going to be just fine, and it's poor and middle class people who are going to be absolutely fucked. Some of us want to put systems in place that will protect everyday people and hold the people who have made trillions of dollars off this accountable, but apparently that's tyranny.

So far we've got "your solution is to microchip us all, slaves, communism, China" and "it isn't that warm right now where I live".

I've been on this forum for over a decade debating this issue and I must say, the climate change deniers have certainly lost steam. Granted it's nice to see a call-back that basically equates to bringing a snowball into Congress.

This is the irony of it all, but it's a common theme. Voting against own interests.

other than educating people on basic things like not polluting and recycling/reusing, what are the solutions? i'm down to hear any and all practical solutions, but you lose me at the first sign of any loss of tyranny.

hand over your car and stop eating meat isn't a solution. neither is an individual carbon tracker or any other orwellian nonsense straight out of the CCP. this is not a conspiracy theory, what's waiting for the west is the CCP police state.

The solutions are complex - far too much for me to write in a sherdog post, but one thing is for sure and that's the fact that we need government regulations forcing big businesses to change. Because you've been convinced by propaganda from those businesses that this is tyranny you don't see it, but the reality is if asbestos wasn't outlawed it would still be widely used. Lead based paint and gasoline would still be in use. Businesses don't give a shit about the effect they have on people or the planet, they care about maximizing profit. Without forcing big industry to change, any individual changes are meaningless.

Read the thread from the start , there are many things that can be done and many of them have been posted , there is no point posting them again as you will just ignore them again and continue to screech and appeal to futility .

You aren't a person who can be reasoned with I believe that is one of the worst ym things youcan say about someone, maybe that's something you can work on

This! Also lead, asbestos, heavy metals, and many other things are all good examples of how governments have regulated to protect citizens. Without food safety, worker protection, infrastructure and building requirements, and environmental regulations, it would be a disaster. Kids used to work in mines ffs. It's a necessity. Similarly, government needs to step up and more heavily regulate fossil fuels as well as accelerate the transition to green energy, because as consumers we can't do much (which ironically is the point he is making but he's still not getting it). It's possible, but it requires action, and that requires voters to get on board.

pollution is a problem but a surveillance state straight out of communist china is not a solution. you will never convince anybody to give up their cars or foods or if they're in a developing country to stop burning fuel if they're already struggling to stay alive.

climate alarmism is pushed by the rich who already have their needs met and they're doing it to virtue signal anyway and will continue flying their private jets and eating expensive cuts of meat. they don't care about the climate, they just want power.

what's the leftist solution to climate change? turning the people of the west into digital slaves through central bank digital currencies, digital ID, and social credit. that's their solution. why is anybody shocked that sane people don't want this?

Forget leftist and rightist and whatever other made up nonsense you obsess over.

The question is 'what's the solution to climate change', and it's better if you join in.

While weather conditions have been different from any other year – with experts calling the first three weeks of July the hottest on record – most of the fires could have been prevented, the government claimed on Friday.

Vassilis Kikilias,

the Greek minister of climate crisis and civil protection, told reporters: “During this time 667 fires erupted, that is more than 60 fires a day, almost all over the country. Unfortunately, the majority were ignited by human hand, either by criminal negligence or intent.

Kikilias said that, in certain places, blazes had broken out at numerous points in close proximity at the same time, suggesting the involvement of arsonists intent on spreading fires further.

they already have a system to force companies, it's called ESG and stakeholder capitalism and it's completely corrupt as bankers like larry fink and experts like bill gates and greta thunberg get to blackmail companies into inserting political agendas into their businesses, profit be damned. ESG and stakeholder capitalism is no longer free market.

i'm down to hear any solutions, complex or not, you can sum them up, but the best solutions are free market ones, not force. some things should obviously be forced, like no lead paint or asbestos, but that's not what this is anymore, it's about control and it's arbitrary, just like covid policy.

-There's a lot of criminal fires. They dont care about the nature, or the fauna and flora.

More than half of the world’s large lakes are drying up, study finds

More than half of the world’s large lakes and reservoirs have shrunk since the early 1990s, chiefly because of climate change, intensifying concerns about water for agriculture, hydropower and human consumption, a study published on Thursday found.

A team of international researchers reported that some of the world’s most important freshwater sources – from the Caspian Sea between Europe and Asia to South America’s Lake Titicaca – lost water at a cumulative rate of around 22 gigatonnes per year for nearly three decades. That’s about 17 times the volume of Lake Mead, the United States’ largest reservoir.

Fangfang Yao, a surface hydrologist at the University of Virginia who led the study in the journal Science, said 56% of the decline in natural lakes was driven by climate warming and human consumption, with warming “the larger share of that”.

Climate scientists generally think that the world’s arid areas will become drier under climate change, and wet areas will get wetter, but the study found significant water loss even in humid regions. “This should not be overlooked,” Yao said.

Scientists assessed almost 2,000 large lakes using satellite measurements combined with climate and hydrological models.

They found that unsustainable human use, changes in rainfall and run-off, sedimentation, and rising temperatures have driven lake levels down globally, with 53% of lakes showing a decline from 1992 to 2020.

Neary 2 billion people, who live in a drying lake basin, are directly affected and many regions have faced shortages in recent years.

Scientists and campaigners have long said it is necessary to prevent global warming beyond 1.5 degrees Celisus (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) to avoid the most catastrophic consequences of climate change. The world is currently warming at a rate of around 1.1C (1.9F).

Thursday’s study found unsustainable human use dried up lakes, such as the Aral Sea in Central Asia and the Dead Sea in the Middle East, while lakes in Afghanistan, Egypt and Mongolia were hit by rising temperatures, which can increase water loss to the atmosphere.

Water levels rose in a quarter of the lakes, often as a result of dam construction in remote areas such as the Inner Tibetan Plateau.

Why should lead regulations be forced? If the best solutions are free market ones, that should be sufficient, right?

on the right things, some force and regulation is needed, but right now what's not being done by companies that should be? i'm trying to be as general as i can because "fixing the climate" is already as non-specific as it gets.

should they care less about profits?
should fines be heavier for going against regulations?
should the state be able to restructure businesses by outlawing materials and industry practices? if so, what practices and what materials?

this isn't a gotcha, but i just feel that we won't get much done without affecting business viability. how do you tell a company to "care more about the environment!" without a boot to their neck?

There was also bunch of national articles about Milan (in north Italy) about to get crazy apocalypse storm 2 days ago, friends told me something happened but it has been just a normal strong summer storm

That storm last Monday was pretty crazy.

The videos are insane..

They are so efficient with the way they ride from one location to the next, starting mass fires as quickly as they could, it almost seems organised.....
