Some businesses are leaving. Yet we still have the 5th largest GDP in the world. That’s the point of an excise tax, especially on businesses who pollute, BTW. To make it cost more for them to do business therefore offsetting the social cost of their pollution. And plenty of businesses are coming in anyway. I doubt you have any data that shows a net loss due to businesses leaving vs starting up or moving in. More like, I know you don’t. But either way, that doesn’t really matter. And here’s why else it doesn’t matter. All those taxes are offset by the really low property tax, which can’t be above 1% of a property’s value. So that makes up for a lot.
