Opinion California on fire

No they're not... lol

And when was the last time there was a fire and the hydrants were dry?

What's the rebuild situation in Maui after the fire there?...about 18 months ago

Zero progress? Did Biden offer them 6 months of Federal Aid?

Yes they are...lol, spineless

Not sure about Maui...not really tracking....

As the Republi'cans' now are suggesting 'conditions' be put on disaster money that would go to California, which is a way to say 'you must implement these republi'can' political prioritize did the Dem's just miss out on not forcing Dem political positions in to Red states during their numerous natural disasters? Maybe a requirement that Red States open sanctuary cities???

Excuse me? Victims in Maui and NC got $750 per household.

Also... Fuck off with partisian BS

Florida sues FEMA for discrimination accusing it of denying aid to Trump supporters

Now Biden suggests just opening up the pocketbook unabated? You know sure as shit it'll get severely abused and scammed. Just like the PPP loans...

Yes, there needs to be guidelines on handing out aid money. Like proving your house is actually damaged or gone. That's what they do in hurricanes. Ask me... lol. And does Biden have the authority to just hand out money without question? That seems insane. Seriously, people need help... But

FEMA is meant to supplement your insurance and help with temporary relief. Not to completely rebuild or repair your house. They've provided temporary trailers to families with no insurance. Helped with hotel costs and sometime food or gas costs. The $750 is meant to help with all of that... which is ridiculous if you've lost your home to a flood, hurricane or fire. $750 won't get you through the week. And there's thousand of people in North Carolina still needing help. Going to just to tell them to fuck off and hand out money to LA residents?

Now LA County fucked up when they implemented cost controls on home insurance and the Insurance Companies bailed.

You know why I think they also bailed? LA County has severe issues with Fire Protection and plenty of parties raised the alarm bells. Between neglecting water supply issues, the fire department and having the yearly winds coming... Many parties foresaw a potential disaster.... Including the LA Chief Crowley.

Please note how Karen Bass pulled the memo from Crowley from the City's Website... No wonder Crowley finally threw Bass under the bus. LAFD has been under funded and under staffed for decades. And instead of increasing the budget, Bass cut the budget. Which is insane when you're the mayor of the city that has one of the highest risk of major fires in the country. And now Democrats have been caught. Neglecting essential services to pander to their radical base...

Bombshell Memo Spells Disaster for Karen Bass Amid California Wildfires

In November, LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley sent a memo warning of severe staffing shortages and training gaps. The department was dangerously undermanned, yet the mayor’s office reportedly ignored or even buried the warning.

“Los Angeles fire chief Kristin Crowley warned city officials in November that her department had about half as many firefighters as it needed,” reports the Washington Free Beacon. “When deadly wildfires struck the city two months later, Mayor Karen Bass's administration pulled Crowley's memo from its website.”

"In many ways, the current staffing, deployment model, and size of the LAFD have not changed since the 1960s," Crowley wrote, noting that a surge in emergency calls combined with a shortage of fire stations had resulted in longer response times.

Crowley’s memo also pointed out that in 2022, 61% of the department’s firefighters failed to meet the national standard of a four-minute first response time. The National Fire Protection Association recommends a ratio of 1.51 to 1.81 firefighters per 1,000 residents for cities like Los Angeles, but according to Crowley, the city only maintains 0.91 firefighters per 1,000 people.

In April, Crowley requested a significant budget increase to recruit firefighters and boost wildfire suppression efforts amid expected retirements. Instead, Mayor Bass approved a budget that cut the department’s funding by $17 million compared to the previous year.

As the catastrophe unfolded, Crowley's memo disappeared from a city website. The New York Times referenced the memo in a Thursday piece but did not link to it. The memo was available online at this link as recently as Friday. By Saturday night, however, the memo was replaced with a message stating, "404! We are sorry, but the page you requested was not found." A Google search preview includes Crowley's quote on the inadequate "size of the LAFD."

Amazingly, the City's homeless budget exceeds the Fire Departments by almost $500 million

Los Angeles mayor slashed fire budget last year, prioritized homeless population

For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion.

California's shit policies have been hurting tax paying citizens for decades... And now it's cost many LA residents everything.

Reservoirs in the area of the fire were not at full capacity. Fact. Low pressure can result from too little water fact. President Trump offered Newsom enough water to keep those reservoirs full and he refused. Fact.

People have lost their lives over this. Newsom and the mayor of LA should be tried for murder. Their immediate resignation is the only acceptable response at this point. Their reign of terror and incompetence has run its course.
Do you post shit like this when 700 texans died because of a little cold snap?

I'm in Burbank near Griffith Park. So I've got the Eaton Fire about 8-miles to my east, and the Palisades fire about 15-miles to my west. Never seen it so shitty here. Lost power last night. Sky is black and my street no really passable due to down branches and a few power lines. Air quality sucks too.

Still, I'm away from the actual fires. But the areas that are burning are heavily populated residential areas. This one's gonna be really bad when it's all accounted for.
- I'm following some firegighters from US. They showing the place. Looks like a nightmarish hell.

Mugshots of the arrested looters are being released, look like a bunch of upstanding citizens imo.

LOL! Arn't you the one who thought the Klamath dam removal was to blame earlier?

You were going to explain how 700 texans died in a cold snap but I never heard back.

What that fuck are you talking about? I was posting that the story from that DEI retard about the 3 - 1 million tanks causing the hydrants to go dry was bullshit. And one of you idiots tried defending her. It turned that the DEI retard neglected to mention that the main water storage reservoir has been dry for almost a year. And she knew it because she was involved in it. And they definitely knew it might be an issue because they were debating on trying to fill it when the weather service warned that the Santa Ana winds were incoming.

Gavin Newsom didn't even know that reservoir was empty until a reporter brought it up. How did he not know?

And the Fire Chief put up the warning a couple months ago that they're weren't prepared for a major fire. And the Mayor has deleted that memo to cover her ass. This a failure across the board. Got anything else to add dipshit?

And where did you get this 700 number? Just shit it out? And yes, that was a huge fuck up because most of Texas is not set up to handle extended periods of 15 degree weather or lower. Including many of the power plants. And a couple hundred people died from the cold and carbon monoxide poisoning. Is this some kind of shit rational on your part to defend the gross negligence and incompetence of city officials in LA and California? Texas officials were fired and power providers fined for improper winterization What about What about what about... shut up retard. How about trying to respond the post I made.. That's right you can't.

Guess how many people die in the US from cold temperatures annually? Around 4,000... Are you going to bring up those deaths too?

Yes Biden would look like a fool and would be counterproductive...Trump should take note

Now I guess you guys idolize Trump for being a fool...but that's another issue altogether
I actually don't idolize Trump but Biden firing shots at Desantis for doing a proper job on hurricane recovery in my state would be as foolish as when Biden said the best way to prepare for hurricane season is to get vaccinated

LOL I really hope that Republicans go down this road, especially ones from impoverished, shithole states who suck up federal aid like the one that Tuberville represents.

it was well below freezing, brother. I wouldn't call that a cold snap. someone else made reference to how California can't be expected to adequately respond to a once every 500 year occurrence and most reasonable people would be able to look at what happened in Texas during the 'cold snap' and realize it too was a once in a lifetime occurrence. a little humility goes a long way.

It was only ten years after Texas had a similar storm. It wasn't a once in 500 year event.

Sorry but whatever X poster you copied from had it wrong about the Klamath dam, it's a long way from LA. As for the 700 number, I'm surprised you don't know more about what actually happened. With all those citizens dying because of negligence you would have thought there would actually be repercussions.

In contrast, so far 24 people have died in the LA fires.
