I'm mentioning how he was completely dominated the 1st round against Brunson, you know the last wrestler he fought? Controlled 2 minutes 28 seconds of the round and taken down on the 1st attempt? Brunson was notorious for gassing even before this fight, not to mention how old he is.

And I mention the names afterwards to indicate how every fight he had following was with strikers. Since Brunson fight (2023), DDP has only had 2 takedown attempts against him, Whittaker got him down the first try and he defended the one takedown against Izzy.

Now I only bring this up this information because he's only been fighting strikers since 2023 and Khamzat who is considered one of the best wrestlers, is 31 instead of 38 like Brunson and I would say he has better cardio despite the narrative here. Anyways, I will keep my crown as the dumbest poster, we'll have to just revisit this after the fight is over.

Brunson is actually a pretty good comparison to Chimaev as they’re very similar fighters. Two of the best wrestlers in the division with awful cardio and limited striking.I’ve always thought Brunson was underrated, dude outwrestled Romero. So it’s great for DDP that he had that test already, learned from it and improved. I doubt Chimaev has the same success that Brunson did.

Which fight? Usman where he fractured his arm in the 1st and still managed to win a decision and takedown Usman or against Burns where his output increased every round despite throwing haymakers the whole fight?

I honestly doubt DDP every time and he proves me wrong, I will admit that atleast. The only fight I favored him was Strickland rematch.

He broke Strickland's nose. Strickland still would not give up and dragged it out to a decision. Strickland's toughness is something that is hard to compare.

Beating Strickland twice at his own game is more impressive than anything Chimaev has done.. Chimaev was getting lit up by t-Rex arms Burns..

I don't know if it will be as fast and Whittaker but it will be a lopsided beat down a la Jones vs Shogun, or if DDP is lucky it will be like Islam vs Charles. Khamzat will win every aspect of the fight, including the standup.

I don't think there's a man on the planet that would be able to do that for five rounds straight. He could probably do it if each round was started on the ground already with him on top. But he exerts so much energy into his takedowns that a few whiffs and it's not good at all for him and I definitely believe that Whittaker would be able to start getting away from the TD attempts in the coming rounds.

There really isn’t an easy option here for Chimaev. He either goes ball to the wall and gasses if he can’t get the finish or he paces himself which would let Dricus control the pace. I don’t think Dricus is going to let Chimaev pace himself, he’ll be shooting his own TDs if Chimaev isn’t.
