No, they are not the same thing at all.
Tom Aspinall is saying he will only fight for an undisputed world championship, which he has more than earned.
Jon is saying he will only defend his championship against a specific opponent. An opponent who happens to be old, washed, inactive would be an understatement, but that's by the by.
Aspinall wants to fight, he doesn't care who he fights, he just wants the belt.
Jones doesn't want to fight, will only fight somebody who shouldn't even be licensed by the athletic commission, (Stipe was literally limping to his seat with assistance from a walking cane the last time we saw him at 295), and won't fulfill his duty as a world champion and defend against the most deserving contenders.

You do understand that injuries heal, right?
Stipe wasn't limping immediately after a fight. He was there as a spectator.
If training is causing your hips to give out, you're too old to be fighting.
Also you Jones fanboys think you're smart. You pick out a single line of a reply that you think you might have an answer for while avoiding the rest.
Stipe hasn't won a fight in half a decade. Aspinall has wrecked half the top 10 in 9 minutes combined.
Pretending Stipe is a deserving contender is pure copium.
