Anthony Hernandez made a statement with his win over Roman Dolidze at UFC Vegas 109.

Hernandez headlined UFC Vegas 109 against Dolidze at the UFC Apex on Saturday. “Fluffy” ragdolled Dolidze from the get-go before submitting the Georgian in the fourth round. Even the color commentators admitted that Hernandez’s dominant performance warrants his name being included in title conversations.

However, the middleweight title picture is currently in a bit of a logjam. Top contenders Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho are scheduled to headline UFC Paris in a potential title eliminator in September. Meanwhile, former ONE Championship two-division title holder Reinier de Ridder recently made his case with a win over Robert Whittaker.

If Hernandez has to stay active, he likes the idea of an ornamental bout like BMF contender matchup. However, Hernandez clarifies that his ultimate goal remains an undisputed UFC championship.

Hernandez Interested in BMF Title Bout​

“When I say I don’t give a f--k who I fight, I’m serious about that s--t. I don’t give a f--k who I fight. I think it’d be cool if there was a contender BMF belt or something like that, but I want the f----ing title. That’s the only reason I do this s--t for, is to get that money and change my family’s life.”

Hernandez is riding an eight-fight winning streak with six finishes against opponents like Marc-Andre Barriault, Roman Kopylov, Michel Pereira and Brendan Allen. Meanwhile, Dolidze saw a three-fight winning streak snapped by his loss against Hernandez.

He's one win away most likely. Eliminator vs RDR. You do realize he won 7 consecutive fights before beating the life and will out of Dolidze, right? And you can say "who did he beat" but how the hell is it his fault that he'd win that many in a row (all dominantly or at least with zero controversy) and not get a top 5 guy yet? So...fine, no title shot yet. Caio/Imavov winner next up. But after that, should be RDR/Fluffy and winner gets the TS.

It's MW, Strickland got a title shot after a split decision win over fricken Costa. Izzy got gifted another one after losing the title. Dolidze had only lost twice in his career previously to Imavov by majority decision in a 5 rounder and lost a decision to Vetorri in which in avenged during his current streak he was on prior to fighting Fluffy. Not a single person has done that to Roman before Fluffy did. Show some hespect

Also, what the hell are you talking about? There are title contenders that have moved up from weight in literally every weight class lmao. The fucking next contender at 170 is a LW. The current LW champion is a FW.

Khazmat is a bloated up fighter but the weight class below which featured contenders and champions like Burns, Covnington, Serra, Penn, Masvidal, Diaz, and Makhachev are not. Alright, that makes a lot of sense, I guess those guys are not "bloated up LWs".

I like Hernandez, man. I like him alot. I think he is a serious contender & wouldn't mind him fighting RDR next for a title shot after Imavov/Caio. There are some question marks since there isn't any big names on his resume, but nevertheless the dude is on fire with an 8 fight win streak & looked very impressive against Dolidze. He deserves to be in the title mix & definitely deserves a top 5 fight next.

Yeah I think one more win over a top 5 guy does it. I think RDR makes more sense as a #1 contender fight than Strickland though.

Agreed and that is why Caio and Imavov are both fighting as their best wins are old people too hehe. Gotta remember Dolidze's Tank abbot cardio best Marvin Vetorri in a 5 rounder and lost 5 rounder by majority decision to the highly touted Imavov. Not a single person has ever done what Fluffy done to Roman.
