Would be the first person he's beaten convincingly in 4 years.

The things that prevent him being the standalone goat wouldn't be fixed by beating Gane. He has several sketchy decisions, several fights with guys who really fit much better at MW, and obviously multiple failed steroid tests, including his best win being overturned for steroids. Might have been different if he had the same run in Pride, where steroids were allowed and it was a level playing field, but if 1 guy is juicing and his opponents aren't allowed to, that takes away from it imo.

They got him for cocaine the first time. The second time he was using anti-estrogen substances. So what? Plenty of supplements out there doing this and every single athlete is keeping their estrogen low before fights. Third time USADA said it was an accidental ingestion of a tiny amount of banned steroid. The fourth time they were detecting the same substance from 2 years prior, they admitted. As unpleasant as Jones' outside life is, they were spinning this guy's blood tests until they found something fishy in them.
 
Yeah he probably is. But no one really gives a shit. The MMA experience is so watered down these days. UFC has a weak generation of Champs right now and events most weekends. The athletes and the owners both behave badly. YouTubers make more money than the fighters can possibly make. I still love the UFC and watching MMA but there is so much content out there, it just isn't the same as it was 10 or 15 years ago . Baby, The Thrill is Gone.

If you ignore the PED's he is already the clear GOAT. If you don't then winning the HW title won't change that.

"He cleared out the division" followed by the names of 3 dudes (and a 4th at the end) that he never fought. Tempted to say troll post, but people get retarded with GOAT talk. Also if Jones lost to Reyes or Santos then Khabib lost to Tibau. I have never heard a single convincing argument from Khabib fans on how he won that fight.

It's not like that at all considering we're discussing being the GOAT so the question for Ted Bundy wouldn't be is he a good guy but rather is he the GOAT serial killer.

I shifted nothing, you did. You changed my analogy to fit your narrative.

Blatant cheating takes away from a fighters accomplishments. Jon has been caught cheating multiple times, PED use, a clear strategy of eye poking, even hiding under the Octagon to avoid being tested. Most others have not. You shift the goalposts by saying they are all cheating taking steroids.

You keep proving my point of holding Jones to a standard you're not holding others too. Look at all the mud you try and sling at Jones but say nothing about:
  • Fedor always fighting wherever the testing is weakest (if at all)
  • GSP having the whole WADA vs VADA scandals with both Condit and Hendricks, including his team wanting to know exactly what was being tested for
  • Aldo's many attempts to delay his test, including arresting the testing officer, seizing his passport so he can't leave, taking the sample back so chain of custody is lost and the sample had to be throw out, spilling the 2nd test so that sample was thrown out, before ultimately submitting a 3rd test
  • Anderson and all his failed tests, his needles visible in old home tour videos
They've all got red PED flags, yet it's Jones you want to discuss. It's always been cope to try and move past the fact that he simply has the best record of them all.

I do hold Anderson in the same regard as Jon. Both GOATs in their weight class and both cheaters. I value Stipe as a HW higher than Fedor. Mighty Mouse is a GOAT. I really just have GOATs in each weight class and Jon is the GOAT LHW but he did test positive and cheats. The GSP WADA vs VADA thing is BS and you clearly don't understand it.

Johnny agreed to VADA testing and then didn't. USADA didn't exist in the MMA world and commission testing was very basic. Simply put there was no random testing of any real value. Johnny claimed he wanted WADA testing not VADA. This is a smoke screen because WADA does not do testing. WADA sets standards for testing and accredits labs that test according to their protocols. VADA is an organization that does the testing AT WADA ACCREDITED LABS. There is no such thing as WADA testing. As for wanting to know what will be tested for that is an attempt to spin GSP's camp asking that as they want to use something. The reality is they had a very good idea of what Johnny was using and wanted to know if it gets tested for.

Imagine if you were aware that they basically never test for EPO but you were scheduled to fight TJ Dillashaw. Would you ask if they were going to test for EPO? If you don't your an idiot.

Looking at Hendricks post USADA career and seeing him fall off a cliff, move to MW and still miss weight and lose is a very clear indication he was using something to enhance his performance. GSP's post USADA career is him winning the MW title.

The thing about Hendo is that he never had a sustained run of dominance. He does had one of the best win lists and is one of the most decorated so perhaps you could put him on that tier.

The one guy I did forget was Nog. He should be on that 2nd tier for sure.
 
Jones does also have 3 fights that were essentially draws during his best years.
 

Already 21 years ago...like it was yesterday, GSP made his debut for the TKO french canadian MMA organisation...



It cannot be more vintage that this, it make you realise how young when GSP started his career and entered the UFC, i think only robbie lawler was that young too.

Then GSP made his debut against the well hyped Karo Parisyan, Parisyan was supposed to be the favorite in to that fight...the ufc saw him in his soup...gsp breaked the hype.



The first title shot at WW for GSP, against a well rounded Matt Hugues.



that legendary im not impressed line...the rest is history.
