It’s Alex’s belt, he can defend against anybody who wants to challenge him. Ank is a first among challengers, nothing more.

it's a merit-based sport and the champion fights the best contenders, Anakalev is the clear #1 contender, you have it backward if you think the champion should be able to fight someone other than the #1 contender. That khalil fight was completely pointless and only showed that alex struggled with the #8 ranked guy. There is no reason why he can't wait 1-2 months to fight who deserves the TS. You're probably gonna reply and say ankalaev doesn't get to dictate the terms but that doesn't answer the question of why a champion should be allowed to fight someone other than the #1 contender

It’s very weird we have to do all this bullshit simply because Muslims intermittent fast for a month and so refuse to fight.

While doing so In air conditioned buildings with cars for transportation and not the open deserts and walking like their ancestors where it would’ve been hard

And While cutting weight and needing to lose it anyways.

Yep if this is true I wouldn't consider Ank the duck here. I hate how the sports so largely filled with top talent unable to fight for a month, but we just did a 3 week stretch without fights. Might have to find a way to have the "break" lineup with Ramadan if the athletes of there keep staying near the top 3 of divisions.

This feels like a chance to duck Alex his toughest least popular test in the weight division

It's also a business. If Belal isn't ready then Poaton is the only real option. Jones is asking for Canelo-money, & Topuria only fights every 9 months so we can't expect him to make a quick 5-month turnaround.

Vegas needs a big fight or fighter to headline & Alex is great option for the UFC here.

If Ankalaev doesn't feel like he can worship & fight simultaneously then so be it, but the rest of the world isn't going to acquiesce to his preferences. Absurd to expect as much tbh.

Are we going to apply the same logic to Poatan as Merab and call him out for trying to schedule a fight with the #1 contender during or post Ramadam. There's only 2 fights at LHW for Poatan and that's Ank and Jones and the later is pure fantasy at this point.


Poatans a great fighter and 1 of my favourites to watch, but tha Ank situation doesn't look good.
