Media Alex: I don't want to go back to the tire shop

I don't understand the comment. Dude is loaded at this point and will be the highest paid person on the card by far. Makes no sense.

I am pretty sure that Ankalaev said that he's gonna send Alex back to the tire shop last week.

Brazilian here. As some already stated, was a response to Ank's tyreshop tweet.

But as I said, sounded scripted as fuck lol

I think he was supposed to say I wont go back and said I dont want to go back, which made it sound even more gay
Yeah sounds like hes pleading with him, please Mr Big Ank dont send me back to tire shop I dont wanna go back

He tried to say the Fedor thing but it was the wrong place and time for that. Anyhow, I can't wait for actual fights to start so we can stop talking about this petty bullshit.

10 Knockouts
Yeah but which above average fighter has he KO’d? The best guy he KO’ed is Johnny Walker who gets KO’ed by everyone. The other 2 known guys were Anthony Smith which he actually only TKO’ed, while Smith got destroyed in 6 of his last 8 fights and Cutelaba who got finished by Johnny Walker, Ryan Spann and some other unknown dude all in a row.

Everytime he fought guys that werent’t mediocre, he could barely do any damage and decisioned them all. I think him vs Rakic was one of the worst and softest fights ive ever seen in the UFC.

That being said i could totally see him beating Alex again, but i doubt he could finish him. If he wins its gonna be again a fight where he does 0 damage and Alex doesnt throw 1 punch.

Let's see what happens when a guy tries to open up on Ank

Alex Pereira is going to retire after what Unlaev does to him in 36 hours...

Discount Tires salesmen got destroyed itt

Then maybe spend more time in the gym and less time in fast cars and hanging out with attention seeking skanks.

That was corny as shit. He's a millionaire, the only tire shop he'll work in is the one he'll own.

Me either Alex, me either. Last time I got there and even though I had an appointment, they said they were backed up and it would be 3+ hours. I had to take an Uber to a bar and have some drinks and food while I waited. I felt like a pauper.

Brother, you were no pauper, you were a noble whiling your day away with food and ale while those of the working class fixed your horse and cart.

He won't unless he was really stupid with his money.

Even in that case.. Alex could probably retire today and make enough doing seminars and milking his fame for the rest of his life.

What do you mean it wont be close? It was a 50-50 fight last time with Alex throwing 0 punches lol. If he fights 0,01% like in his 100 fights before it should be the easiest win in his career. Ank is a mediocre wrestler and mediocre striker. Cant finish an apple. There’s literally 0 danger there for Alex…

Ank’s movement, footwork and control of the lead hand stifled his game.

I way prefer Alex, and think all time he will be better than Ank, I just think it’s a changing of the guard moment.

Ank is leveling up, while Alex has seemed distracted the last year since he became a superstar, plus hes aging out the game.

Would love to see Alex KO Ank.

I dont want to jinx it and maybe Ank does catch Alex if Alex fights agressively, just like Adesanya caught Alex when he got reckless and opened up. But i have doubts at LHW due to Alex not being drained and Ank imo not having the skills to do it.
We’re gonna find out soon :)

Think it was his take on the classic Fedor quote... I see the man trying to beat me as the guy putting me back to where I don't want to be. So that man must be eliminated.

Some people are taking it to mean self-doubt but you can see it as self-motivation as well. Irrelevant one way or the other honestly... his increasing age will be more of an impact sooner or later rather than his psychological state attached to one quote...

It's gonna be a tough fight for Alex. If he's gonna get his title back it's gonna involve him taking some bigger risks in this fight and opening up more. He was far too hesitant the first fight. Like you said, Ankalaev had great movement, footwork and controlled the lead hand and that sort of froze Alex. So he will need to take more risks to get his offense going.

The key for Alex in the first few rounds is not to land volume, cause he's not a volume fighter and Ankalaev is very good defensively with his movement. It's gonna be landing select powerful strikes that will pay off later and drain Ankalaev. I'm talking big leg and calf kicks, strong body shots that will take his cardio down. I think a big focus on the legs and body is key and then in rounds 3 to 5 he'll be able pressrue more effectivley to land to the head. Invest in the body and then he'll have more success.

What makes me confident is how he handled Izzy in the rematch, I know....I know a fight where he was brtually KO'd. But the point stands that he made some really strong adustments from the first fight to the second. In the first fight, he didn't really land much meaningful offense till round 4 and 5, he was head hunting. But in the rematch he invested more in leg strikes and body strikes and he hurt Izzy much earlier to get those positions where he can put him against the cage and throw power shots. Too bad he left his defense lol, but you get the point.
