Alan Ritchson or Tom Cruise - Who do you prefer as Jack Reacher?

Alan Ritchson looks the part, Tom Cruise not so much.

But I actually prefer Cruise because of that reason.

He could come off as unassuming non threatening, but a complete badass.

Alan comes off that he's tough right from the get go.

I have read every single Jack Reacher book. Cruise got a bit of the personality right. Ritchson is almost perfect. A little bit too much comedy, but a much better Reacher in the end.

The whole problem with Cruise playing Reacher is size. Size is one of the main things about Reacher's character. Reacher is 6' 5" in the books. In every book people remark on his size.

Cruise has the acting, but dude is a munchkin.

I haven't read the books, so I didn't have any preconceived expectations going in the Jack Reacher movies. Might be unpopular but I liked Cruise's performance more than Ritchson's.

After about book 20 quality really drops off, as the original author (Lee Child) passed the reins off to Andrew Child. He can't write a story nearly as good.

I'll keep that in mind. I have all the books in a big box. My mom works at a friend's of the library and got them all for me. Not a fan of fathers giving their kids the reigns. Assume thats whst child did? Stephen King wrote at least one book w one of his kids and it sucked.

Andrew is the younger brother. I have been slowly collecting the hard backs when I find them at the used book stores.

I still pre order the new ones each year for my collection. Even though the new ones are not very good.

Alan Richardson is better not only physically but as a detective playing reacher. Reacher would have been better as a HBO show.

This in a nutshell. Turn the comedy down a couple notches and Ritchson is perfect.

I do like the Cruise movies though.
