I now seriously question my enthusiasm for Top Gun 3.

If this doesn't break even, perhaps this will be the last one. I don't know if Paramount will want to make more unless the budget is drastically cut. Like below $100 million. And I don't know if Cruise will go for that.

Oof. Already on the 3rd weekend? I don't know how much more legs this'll have but I don't see it doubling it's current haul (~700 mill) let alone cracking $500. This likely comes in below DR and ends up not breaking even. Not by a long shot. Which means that for more movies to happen (with Cruise) there'll have to a drastic change.

I read somewhere that it would have to make like $900 million to make a profit.

Regardless of how I feel about the film, Tom Cruise is an absolute legend. The man is always trying to do it practical; do it right. Just look at this.... instead of lazily doing it with CGI, he lights the fucking parachute on fire FOR REAL.

Yes, Cruise jumped to his potential death while his parachute caught fire 16 times during the making of the latest “Mission: Impossible” film.
