It's the dumbest strategy ever. You're nonsensically risking rounds and getting caught and finished yourselves instead. Trying to win a long game is just as risky, if not more, than never letting it get there instead.

Go ask Izzy if trying to win a decision against Pereira was smarter than trying to take him out instead. One got him KO'd with minutes left instead of his planned 5 round decision, the other let him KO Pereira in 2 rounds.

The best strategy is just to always be trying to win and be constantly ahead. Letting moments go hoping others will come again later is dumb.
