Elections Would the left be more supportive of a JD Vance presidency?

You totally misinterpreted what I wrote.

I didnt say the Bush's were good presidents. I think by most metrics GW Bush was NOT a good president and its only because of his bumblings Obama was even viable.

Infact most of the country supported him after 9-11 as with the military conflicts that followed

But "progressives" didn't HATE him because he was "republican". I think even at his lowest points like the Patriot Act, there was not the level of bipartisan contempt that trump garners.

All that said, to the initial post-

As bad as Bush was, I would absolutely welcome him, his dad, Reagan, Romney, McCain over trump in a heart beat.

Shit probably Cheney too.

Fair enough. I didn't think you said they were, but I do think he is immeasurably worse than Trump (at least, so far). I appreciate the difference in opinion.

I hear you and we likely wont agree on opinion.

But for as bad as Bush was, I dont think he hated Americans and believed in the institutions we have been taught to value (whether good or bad)

As I heard a Harvard historian say, he (and Cheney) were not nihilists.

I recall when trump was first elected and began his attacks on politicians, media and the free press, I saw this interview with Bush on the importance of a free press and the contrast between he and trump was jarring.

Mind you I'm not looking at his presidency with rosey glasses, just relative to trump.

Neither does Trump. You hate him. So you're projecting a bunch of bullshit on him.

The way left wingers acted about GW Bush.

This was the peak of the Daily Show. Bush was absolutely hated by the left.

So the "Daily Show" is your metric for how much "left wingers" viewed GW Bush compared to trump?

A tv show?

Okay. I understand where you are coming from now.

All you're doing is revealing you were too young back then to understand. The Daily Show was enormous and a massive part of pop culture back then.

Very erudite analysis using a comedy tv show

Like I said, I totally understand where you are coming from now.

Cheers

You sure about that? What about this?

I don't have twitter access or that link just isn't working.
He called her innocent and settled a bogus lawsuit from her family with an almost $5 million settlement, everything indicates that not only does he think she did nothing wrong but that he in fact thinks very highly of her.
Never heard him say that but if that's the case than I don't agree with it. As far a MOST of us righties are concerned, she learned the hard way what not to do.
Isn't it more likely that Trump is just rewarding loyalty like he did when he pardoned Manafort and Stone? I highly doubt there's any real procedural objection here.
I have no clue who those two are but fair enough.
He said this in the executive order pardoning them
I see 14 names. I know hundreds were arrested. What happened?? I though people were pissed off because hundreds were pardoned.
He seems to think prosecuting them was an injustice. It's not like he pardoned a few of them, he pardoned every last one and ended all investigations and prosecutions relating to Jan 6th. How can you say that they "got what they deserved" when he's let a bunch of them off the hook?
Didn't they spend 4 years behind bars? I have never been jailed but I heard it SUCKS.
Sure but that's not what he did, he pardoned all of them and let the ones still bring investigated/prosecuted off the hook and no push back from the party at all.
Same answer as above.
Someone like you wouldn't think twice about voting for him a third time in 2028 even after all this.
I wouldn't vote for him in 2028 due to the fact that I want the circus to end. And he'd be too old anyways.
Nope, he also let a bunch of them off the hook.
Same answer as above. x2

refer to my reply to Islam Imamate.
He’s much more articulate than I am, but to follow up the “they did 4 years” point: that is the correct amount for some, but far shy of what other’s actions warranted.

JD is a secret degen. He probably likes anime.

Vance is the "globalist's" play... Unfortunately.

Given a binary choice.... Vance all day. At least he wouldn't have complete fucktards like Bondi/Noem/ RFK Jr/ Hegseth with major leading roles.

Now, I happen to think Vance is a clown..... anybody that can go from "Hitler" to "Greatest American President" is clearly for sale.
Still better than Donnie Demento.

The press were at least as hard on him as they were on Trump, with the constant insults, calling him out for screwing up simple lines like “fool me once, shame on, you don’t get fooled again” etc. They played his missteps on repeat. He still didn’t revoke press credentials because he isn’t a petty blowhard, he could actually handle criticism. People threw shoes at him he just ducked.

With Trump, you get some new idiocy every day so you don’t have to play anything on repeat. It’s a constant cycle of fresh content.

All in, Bush was responsible for a million deaths in Iraq so it’s hard to say he was a better president: a war criminal with decorum is still a war criminal. If Trump invades Iran that changes things...
