Similar picks hereSaturday:
Kline by dec.
Blanchfield by dec.
Val by TKO.
Regardless of who wins I will still have Amanda as GOAT.Similar picks here
Kline UD
Blanchfield by (split) dec.
Zhang by UD (cementing her as the GOAT... Sorry Val for abandoning you)
Any of you guys know if weili actually tried to put some weight on or is she just going to go in at her normal weight?
Mma math says Erin's alot better since then Erin>Rose>Tracy and it was a close split d back then. Gives me alot of confidence in Erin here.KLINE by sub: A few years ago this would have been interesting but now Angie is over the hill. She can't keep up anymore and I think Kline is future champ material tbh; she's already better than her very close friend Erin (who was in a title eliminator recently) at striking and wrestling. In the past I've said she's not good at finishing but she seems to be better at that lately, too. Especially if there's a lot of grappling I think Angie is gonna fold as it wears on and give up a sub.
CORTEZ? by DEC?: I never know what to think of Cortez because of her inactivity and 'image' but her performances against ppl like Araujo, Egger, Jasu were impressive. Since their first fight was close and Erin was a teenager then you'd think she should have improved more, but it doesn't really feel that she's improved key skills to me... her wrestling still sucks and her striking also sucks. And wrestling is what Tracy is good at and Tracy's striking is better, so....? my gut (which is ALWAYS RIGHT ) says Erin will win but my brain (....which is often wrong...) says therefore Cortez must win, so, I'll do the uh, smart thing and go for Cortez...
VAL?: I dunno tbh, been back and forth a little on this but I'm rooting for Val so I'll pick her, to cement her status as vice-goat, a title she certainly deserves over AmCANda Nunes![]()
a must-see fight this year regardless!Kline and Blanchfield should win. But could also lose.
I really hope if Zhang wins, she hurts Val so badly that she will be out long enough that even with Zhang's glacial pace of fighting no immediate rematch happens. Or that Val retires - but with her ego, I really doubt she would ever walk away with a loss. So really, really badly injured Val is my preferred result.
Likely result is Weili running into jab for 25 mins, a 49-46 decision and then maybe fucking up the newfound momentum potential of 115 to go back to challenge for the title. At least Dern is would be a fresh matchup, but if she wins the belt again, what then?
I just kinda deflated my expectations of a match that should easily be able to get on my greatest of all times list.
Damn.
It is! I am glad I got the "worst case scenario" thoughts out of my head and can now just enjoy the ridea must-see fight this year regardless!
She fucked around and found out after all.If Weili somehow knocks out Valentina after knocking out Joanna, I will personally show up to her gym and handle her myself.
On a serious note, I'm torn on who's winning (not on who I'm rooting for) because they're both great. It's evident that Valentina has slowed down in recent years, it makes it harder to pick her with 100% confidence; while Weili only seems to have gotten better each year.
However, I think Weili will fuck around and find out once she gets tagged by a counter, and taken down after she tries to score a take down herself. I see Valentina taking over the fight from then, with some highlights from Weili here and there but not enough to win. If Yan Xiaonan can toss you around on the feet with counters after she was finished twice in one fight, you're going to get tossed around by Shevchenko too.
Shevchenko by UD.
