Great interview. War Loopy.

Knutsson / JASU / Loopy / GRASSO
<GrassoBless>

I kinda don't like it that Loopy is training with Grasso/Lobo for this fight, not because it's a bad gym (duh) or even a bad gym for her, just that the only way she can lose this fight is if she tries to outbox Reed for all of 3 rounds, and training w/Lobo makes it seem almost certain that's what she's gonna do. She still might win though (just way closer than it should be... as usual with Loopy)

A lot of ppl don't seem to mention it but Jasu's actual background/base is WRESTLING, she easily stopped and reversed Maverick's takedowns with skillz, she has an actual competition background (not really noteworthy but it's something) while Cortez who seems more known for wrasslin' doesn't have any pre-MMA background AFAIK. Cortez uses some of the same takedowns as Mav but she's quite a bit better and is a good grappler in general so it'll be interesting to see how that goes, who gets on top, whether Cortez can be held down, who win sthe striking (I'm guessing Jasu by reach + volume) etc. I've always picked Cortez so far and been a bit surprised that a lot of ppl doubted her in some of her UFC matchups so this is a change for me. I guess the deciding factor is momentum (Cortez been away for some time, not unusual for her but constantly talking about injuries and the weird split with BRIAN and the drama around that just feels like she's stalling vs Jasu The Machine on a roll) plus Cortez was taken down repeatedly by Gatto, so surely Jasu can too... GET HYPED for 3 rounds of CAGE PUSHING!

I picked Grasso by sub last time, much less confident this time but I'm on board the 'Val is past it / Grasso is peaking' train.
Plus Val said she aims to 'destroy' Grasso and we can't be living in a world where that happens can we?

I was gonna pick Knutsson for the upset over Lucindo, she should easily beat Mann, only question is whether Mann will get brutally finished like the last time she stepped in a UFC cage.

On a bright note today, another fighter found my channel, shared my work:

I don’t make vids for fighter recognition at all, but it is nice when they do watch. Even the fighters who comment to tell me I picked a fight wrong

Damn, I hope she doesn't get stuck in contract limbo.
Same, bro. Probably just a misunderstanding, but I hope Chatri doesn’t keep her sidelined. Also, seeing before what the pay is for the mma Lumpinee fights (less than $5k show and win) I hope they give her better pay days going forward, otherwise they F’d her

Knowing ONE... she's probably getting an awfull matchup after at least 8 months from now and then... contract limbo...

They have awfull ways with fighters...

The 10-8 score card was crazy, but i myself couldn't score round 4 for the life of me so I was fine with the final result of a draw in the main event. Val is a minute winner for sure, but grasso has a knack for stealing the big moments. I'm not sure if they should run it back again or not. They could book Manon vs. Blanchfield for a proper number 1 contender fight if they do the trilogy. They have a lot of options, but it does always feel weird when a title fight ends in a draw.

Yeah, that 10-8 for the 5th rd was absurd. It was a great back and forth fight between the two, with one mistake leading to an advantage for the other fighter. Felt Val stepped up her activity and was doing good work with the jab and landing takedowns. Grasso had some nice power moments with her striking and in the clinch. Proved again she is good on the bottom, if she does get taken down.

Wouldn't surprise me if the UFC give Grasso someone else to fight before doing a 3rd fight between the 2.

Yay, for Loopy, Cortez, Knutsson. Went as it supposed to go.

Grasso/Val 2 was a very good fight. Different things happening, some close calls and an amazing ending with Grasso getting the back again for a strangulation. Had it 3-2 for Grasso, but 4th was close so Val winning would have been cool too. So draw is probably the best scenario around - Val walks away from championship competition for a while without back to back losses unlike so many other former long term champs in the modern age and Grasso continues as the reining champion. All is well with the draw.

Well, unless for some reason UFC decides to logjam the division with a rematch. Time for both fight someone else. Draws happen all the time outside of USA*, we should not be afraid of draws.

And for the elephants in the room:
1) Val's unsportsmanship took to new heights never before seen in MMA, with the "hurr, mexican independence day corruption"
2) Instead of bullshit like Val is spouting, I assume incompetent Mike Bell realized he had goofed up earlier (round 4) and "fixed" it with the bad call of 10-8. We should just disregard his scorecard complately and have it a draw with the two split judges.

*usually after 90+ minutes of "not much happening"

I had 3-2 Grasso, giving her the second, fourth, and fifth. She was more hesitant this fight. Had a hard time making adjustments, and Shevchenko using her jab better was a big reason for that.

Damn draw cost me $100, but I’d rather lose that than see Shevchenko walking out the champ again (petty moment).

the other fights were okay. Knutsson is legit, but can’t finish a fight for shit. Once again, she had a fighter clearly hurt from a combination, and fell straight into the clinch.

Cortez was just faster than Jasudavicius, but that’s not hard. She showed some definite improvement in her stand up, though.

nice performance by Godinez. Straight manhandled Reed. Can she do that against high comp, though? The jury is still out.
