You're right, of course... it would be nice to see Trump break this trend and even find a way to balance the budget or at least put us on a path to that goal. I doubt he pulls it off.

You don't know the difference between state benefits and federal benefits? Ive asked this a dozen times, how much money out of Medicaid's total budget in 2024, was spent on illegals? Give that number to me in a % form 1-100.
 
This is literally in the CA Medicaid website, just like the NY. Currently all people, including undocumented illegals, qualify as long as they meet income requirements. It says that will stop new enrollments in 2026 due to federal government, but existing enrollments will continue.

The mental gymnastics is that they are using specific parts of Medicaid that are only state funded… but that diverts funds that would otherwise be used to citizens, thus straining the federal funds.

Medi-Cal Eligibility for Undocumented Immigrants in California

As of January 1, 2024, all undocumented immigrants in California are eligible for full-scope Medi-Cal coverage, regardless of age. This means they can access a wide range of medical services, including preventive care, doctor's visits, hospitalizations, and prescription drugs.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be a California resident, Must meet income eligibility guidelines, and Must be undocumented.

Enrollment Process:

Undocumented immigrants can enroll in Medi-Cal through their local county social services agency or online at Covered California. They do not need to provide proof of legal status.

Important Notes:
    • The public charge rule does not apply to Medi-Cal benefits, so receiving health insurance through Medi-Cal will not affect an immigrant's ability to obtain a green card.
    • As of January 1, 2026, new enrollments for undocumented adults (age 19 and older) will be frozen. However, those who are currently enrolled will be able to continue their coverage.
    • Children of undocumented immigrants are still eligible for full-scope Medi-Cal regardless of the freeze.

As mentioned earlier, these programs won’t all of a sudden comeback if the government is refunded. They will have to be added back in through appropriations and/or new legislation

Yeah.. the BBB was a whole lot of waste. I have no confidence, but if anyone is actually going to make a move on the debt and budget, this is the best chance we've had in a long time.... and I doubt it will happen.

Both Biden and Trump accumulated debt that was COVID-related, and debt that was not related to COVID.
Even if you removed COVID-related debt from Trump only and not Biden, Trump would still have added more to the debt than Biden. Trump’s non-COVID debt is greater than Biden’s total debt.
