HWs of that quality don’t exist any more. Nobody Tom can fight can make him a GOAT candidate.

Francis fed on the dregs of the last good era of heavyweight MMA. It built his name. Aspinall has no such opportunities.

But look at Fedor’s winning streak. Any comparison between Fedor and other HWs is basically laughable.

Well if one examines the championship streaks and scalps accumulated by Silva and Fedor, the odds of either Khamzat or Chimaev surpassing them are minuscule. The chances that both will do so are so small as to be difficult to measure. Probably 5000-1.

Khamzat absolutely could be GOAT middleweight. His style can nullify most all strikers, and is better then most grapplers. Solid bjj too. If khamzat isn’t on the cream of the crop steroids like Anderoid was, he could do that to extend his prime. Imagine if he defends 3-4 times a year and stays healthy. Just like that steroid junky. Splatter silva.

Tom’s a different story, because at hw everything can end in an instant, unlike any other weight class. His athleticism and speed, combined with a very good ground game, and dangerous stringing could take him into Goat status.

but he's really untested at mw. we will see how he does. for example, who really is sure if he'd beat prime Weidman or romero or jacare or rockhold? no one can say. we will see if he can beat the mw grapplers in their primes, which he hasn't faced yet in ufc.

and yes, tom's a special talent. both do. Just it's the matter of defending first which may not be as easy as people think. I think Gane or Hernandez or both could derail them their first title defenses, if they come in their top shape.

I mean Gane shouldn't get a titleshot, but on paper, if prime for prime, i'd back Gane, as dogshit as his grappling off his back is, not sure if Tom can take it there.

Silva was 40+ and coming off a broken leg before he popped. I give him the benefit of the doubt but hey, that's just my opinion.

As for Izzy, Izzy already has a better MW resume in his lead up to the title and went on to win 8 MW championship fights.

Just don't think Khamzat is gonna stick around long enough to be comparable.
