A back injury's the kind of thing that can be lingering for some time, and one day you're doing practice drills and some awkward movement triggers an escalation of pain, and it becomes unbearable or, at least, too nagging to enter a world title fight against an elite Dagestani wrestler.

I'd rather watch this fight with both men fully healthy and in the best possible shape.

It only takes one wrong movement. I slipped three discs moving a keg at work that I'd done 3000 times before. Went from tossing them like they were nothing to struggling to lift my toddler.
