Why was GSP allowed to pick his own opponent(Nick Diaz) but not Jones?

Nick Diaz- was on a great streak in strikeforce
Cormier- Great streak in strikeforce

Nick Diaz lost a fight, got suspended and still was able to fight GSP ahead of Hendrix!! Who had won 5 straight. Dana White sided with GSP.

How are these situations not similar?
It really doesnt matter though, cause this board has Sherly gone to the dogs.

because sherdog likes gsp and dislikes JJ, very simple

Shertard double standards.

At least Jones is asking for an undefeated opponent unlike GSP who wanted ot fight a guy coming off a loss and drug suspension/retirement

Also he made Hendricks yet ANOTHER top opponent in a row.

Jones should fight someone coming off loss/injury, and make Cormier fight Gustaffson in the meanwhile. This situation would be exactly like what GSP did to Hendricks.

PPV buys, obviously. The fact that you guys ignored this fact just shows how much fucking Haterade you're all drinking.

He wiped out the division and Diaz was the last choice. Who else does he fight Spider? :icon_chee

/Thread.

This is the right answer.

How do you guys not get it by now?

Because the fans wanted to see the fight plain and simple.

Diaz fight-close to 1 million buys

Hendricks fight- 625k buys

See the difference???

Wanderlei Silva should get the title shot then :). Lots of PPV buys to be made for Jones vs. Silva.

I don't remember that fight being on the table. Was GSP offered the Hendricks as a challenger, and then picked Diaz instead?

If that's what happened, that's equally bad to Jones turning this fight down (if he eventually does that).

Because Diaz vs GSP was a fight many wanted to see and would be a huge draw. Many fans now want to see Gus vs Jones and it has a story to also make it a huge draw. It's business, not favoritism.

Why do we want ANY champ picking fights? Even if it were done on one occasion in the past, must it then be embraced in the future?

Cus Diaz was mean and hurt GSPs feelings

Don't feed the troll guys.

Jones asked for Glover, who havent faced a top10, if you want to compare them. Nick had just loss a controversial split decision for the interim belt and Dana has already promised Gustaf a shot for beathing Manuwa over DC who is fucking injured and need injury. That's not talking of the fact that this fight would be on sweden, guess who's from there, i'll give you a clue, not DC

The most obvious answer is because Jones already got to pick his opponent. He convinced the UFC to go with Glover over a Gus rematch, remember?

GSP took the Diaz fight, gave his word that Johnny was next, and lived up to his word.

Jonathan took the Glover fight, said Gus was next, and now wants DC.

Yes...the situations are identical.

Fail thread. GSP > BONES.
