Why is Machida getting title shots so easily?

ts seems to ignore the fact that of those losses he mentioned only one was definitive (Shogun) and the second while it was also definitive was a late replacement title fight in a weight class higher than he is now. fact is he deserves to be there and it is why he is fighting.

plus if this is your argument then Dillashaw had no business fighting Barao but we saw how that went..

because he is a larger more marketable name at this point in time in comparison to Jacare.

And a former champion in the UFC.

I personally would have preferred Jacare.

Bingo.

Jacare deserves it more on paper, but UFC is in the business of selling PPVs, and Machida is the bigger draw.

Souza will get his shot.

He's a big draw and belt holders don't object to fighting him because of his vulnerabilities. AND because of What Joe Rogan once said....
"Welcome to the Machida era!" Ok ... well that only lasted one fight but you know what I mean.

Because some people actually watch the fights and understand how phenomenal he is.

He didn't just beat Randy, the crane kicked his ass into retirement. His "losses" against Rampage and Davis didn't hurt his standing with anybody that actually watched those fights--he was in control and obviously the better fighter, he just started slow and ran out of time in a short 3 round fight.

In the history of ridiculously unearned title shots in the UFC, this one doesn't even rank.

overreaction at it's best.

He is undefeated since the Jones loss as far as I'm concerned.

Being a former LHW champ + his first two wins at 185 means I'm not too upset that he is getting a title shot. Seems as deserved as any other title shot, moreso than many.

Come on, you cant say Carmont wasnt a decent win, he was on a 11 fight winning streak and 6-0 in UFC with wins over Lawlor, Larkin and Philippou. Jesus.. And you know firing Okami had nothing to do with him not being UFC caliber so no point to use that as a somekind of an argument. He had just beaten Hector Lombard and Alan Belcher.

Mousasi still wasnt a top5 win, hell he wasnt ranked even a top10 if I remember right.

Lol, are you seriously trying to sell almost 48 year old Couture in his farewell fight as a somekind of worthy opponent for a title shot after 2 losses? :icon_chee That Machidas title shot got even ranked in the top5 in the most undeserved title shots in UFC history.

"Losing" to Rampage.. How about "winning" the first Shogun fight, then huh?:icon_chee

First Shogun fight, if you mute Rogan jizzing himself every time a leg kick was landed, was a very close fight. Sorry, but it's round by round scoring, not Pride overall scoring, so while a very strong case is there for Shogun, a strong case is there for what the judges scored, as well.

Can't say the same for Rampage or Davis.

I'm sorry, but you were talking about how KOing Okami automatically elevates Jacare past Machida.

Mousasi wasn't ranked in the top ten at the time? Means as much as Okami getting cut. He's one of the top fighters at both MW and LHW in the world. There's a reason why Vitor has been running from him for years.

And, again, your claim that he fought Mousasi "going backwards" pretty much invalidates anything you say, since that statement was full-on retarded. If you want to nestle Jacare's nutsack and argue that he is deserving of a shot, fair enough. It's your argument that Machida is somehow "gifted" with title shots when the opposite has pretty much been the case is where you look foolish.

at least he's an EX CHAMP and knocks people out or outclasses his opponents while all Chael has to do is talk shit on twitter like your average troll.

This is his third title shot.

His first shot against Rashad Evans was well-earned (he was undefeated, carrying a long win streak in the UFC).

His second shot against Jones resulted from other contenders being unable to fight Jones. He was a late replacement, and as such, was taking an opportunity the fighters who deserved it more were unable to take or chose not to take.

This time (against Weidman), he's taking advantage of the Vitor fiasco. Jacare might have a better claim to a title shot, but Machida's is 2-0 in MW against two top 10/15 fighters and coming down from almost earning another titleshot @ 205.

And also, as already been stated- ex-champion treatment.

When nachida first came to the ufc he had to win 6 in a row to get a title shot, not to mentioned his MMA record was undefeated at like 14-0.

Machida has been promised more title shots than you've had hot dinners, TS. He just dropped to MW and convincingly beat two top contenders.

He's been a pro for 11 years and has lost to Shogun once and Jones once (he also "lost" to Rampage and Davis).

The guy's a ninja and is a stylistic nightmare for Weidman

Have you seen his "loss" to Rampage and/or Davis? Or just checked fight finder like the majority of other shertards who talk out their ass?

...
For comparison, Jacare is running on a 6 fight winning streak and he KO`d Okami who was on a 3 fight winning streak and who had just beaten Hector Lombard. That win alone should have put Jacare ahead of Lyoto imo. After beating Okami Jacare beat Carmont aswell who was on a 11 fight winning streak (6-0 UFC).

Jacare, himself, has been deferential towards Machida.

Well, Im sure Jacare would have loved to get that shot too, short notice or not. And there is really no way to argue Lyoto earns it more than Jacare, so.. Lyoto just have more fans, so I think thats the main reason.
Jacare just had literally one of the most boring fights anyone has ever seen in the history of the sport against Francis Carmont.. Why in the hell would he get a title shot after that shit?

Besides, Lyoto said he wanted to fight two or three more times and earn his title shot at middleweight when they interviewed him on UFC tonight right after he beat Mousasi..

Vitor pulled out of the fight and the UFC wanted Machida to fill in for him.

Cry all you want about it. It's cute.
