Moving down a weight class equates to title shots at a quicker pace due to how tough it is to move down..;.............................don't all UFC fighters move down a class just to try and get a title shot. He earned it, who else is qualified to take on Weidman that is unquestionably earned a shot?????????? Vitor no, he is rehabbing, Jacare coming soon, Romero up and coming. Machida is the only match right now.
Why is Machida getting title shots so easily?

Giving away the MW shot so cheaply (wins against #7 and #14) was a disservice to Machida, who ironically said he didn't want to jump the line. If he had been required to beat higher-ranked opponents first, he would have been better prepared for Weidman, and beaten him.
