Why can't you people admit Colby was taking over?

Idk how you can think Colby won round three when his face was a mask of blood and he was getting battered. Holding a man down for a minute or so doesn't overcome that nowadays.

He was down three rounds and is not a big finisher, he was en route to a five round sweep if not a finish later.

Didn’t he get outstruck by 3X in R3

To be absolutely fair, the rematch bullshit really goes back to Woodley and Wonderboy, or even back to Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks if you want to go that far back.

But he never earned his second title fight. And he never earned his fight vs Leon, either. He refused to fight contenders for a long time, aside from Masvidal who was already one foot out the door.

Colby hasn't beaten a legit contender since...RDA? Robbie was pretty shot when they fought, and even RDA wasn't at his best imo. His entire resume is beating guys on their way out the door and begging for title fights he doesn't deserve.
Even RDA was really a LW, who was a champ that lost their title. He wasn't the same guy he was in his peak.

I thought Buckley was slowing a bit and that would have been good for the Colby of old, but this version just wasn't putting on enough pace to wear Buckley down to the point that he was going to take over the fight.

Colby isn't physical enough for the division anymore and he wasted too much of his prime years

Exactly - Colby's entire resume is that he had a close fight with Usman until his jaw broke. That's it. That's the best thing on his resume. At his age and after all this time being inactive and now he can't even accept that he lost this fight after losing 3 rounds and getting bloodied like that - it's time to go. No more title shots, please.

True, altho I'm not so sure about that being Nate's signature really.. Looking at his resume I can't even really find a fight where he took a beating and ended up winning later in the fight, except for the Conor fight.

Odd comparisons. Lawler won 2 fights against two guys that were relevant at the time for that rematch. Woodley and Wonderboy had a draw, rematch made sense. Not exactly the same as getting shots off beating guys on losing streaks.
True, Lawler earned his title shot. But this came right on the heels of GSP giving up the belt, and GSP really didn't do rematches, even when Fitch had earned it and then some.

Robbie absolutely went wild after losing the first Hendricks fight and earned his rematch, but Johny was out for a while and so he fought Robbie back-to-back, even though Robbie had 2 or 3 wins between those fights. But for title fights, it was two consecutive fights where Hendricks fought Lawler. And then Woodley vs Wonderboy and all the rematches that we've seen since then - GSP really did keep things fresh when he was on top

Colby was starting to take over his top control when he got the takedown was making Buckley fade towards the end of the 3rd

The woke liberal Refs and doctor in Tampa gave Buckley the win as they are still angry that Trump won, Colby didn't actually lose

Colby should appeal on basis of political bias

Colby fans after watching him get his ass beat for 15 minutes, then watching him have cardio for 10: He took over and won!

...despite doing no damage or coming anywhere near finishing his opponent.

That blood was from a cut.

It was going to bleed, regardless.

Colby won round 3 with top control.
Seriously are you Colby? You made another thread claiming Colby was fixing to win.

He didn't win round 3. In fact he was the one that was getting worn down. It was a matter of time until he got KO'd.

He also gave a weak protestation over the doc stoppage. Deep down, he was probably relieved he didn't have to leave on a stretcher.

Eh, I think some folks are overstating Buckley's fatigue level and understating how much the damage Buckley was doing was slowing Colby's pace down.
Colby can only put on a crazy pace when he can establish the threat of the takedown. While he did take Buckley down he wasn't able to do damage, threaten submissions, or hold him down and Buckley was getting increasingly confident on the feet with little coming back from Colby.

According to official stats, he was outstruck 3 to 1 in significant strikes, Buckley had a submission attempt, and Colby only had about 40 seconds more of control time which he did nothing with. Some people think this was a tide turning round lmao.
I’m old.
Remember 30 years ago (are you old enough?) when people had no clue what they were watching?
Sometimes* I feel like not enough has changed since then.
Buckley won with damage
He looked like he just sort of pushed Colby onto his back at one point.
