Why can't you people admit Colby was taking over?

I thought he was going to make a comeback. Buckley was getting gassed.

Colby would've had to dominate the last 2 rounds and somehow convinced 2 of the 3 judges he won the 3rd. People here underestimate how much gas you waste getting your ass kicked. Colby isn't homer Simpson. Either way he turns 37 in a few months and he's due for his decline.

just like Nate vs Jorge, only Nate made a name for himself by coming back from beatings. Colby, not so much.
Is he actually better off for it though? He sounds nearly retarded now days (even compared to old) and probably has less money to retire on.

I don't think he was that good to begin with and Usman broke his spirit. Strikers seem to age better ironically. Grappling just ruins your knees. I think that's a big part of it

Not really but his legend will likely hold up long after Colby is forgotten

Idk how you can think Colby won round three when his face was a mask of blood and he was getting battered. Holding a man down for a minute or so doesn't overcome that nowadays.

He was down three rounds and is not a big finisher, he was en route to a five round sweep if not a finish later.
Your MMA analysis is as awful as your political commentary

You're a sherdog mod, not some slack jawed bum at the bar

That blood was from a cut.

It was going to bleed, regardless.

Colby won round 3 with top control.

No he didn't lol, Colby had like 90 seconds of top control and then Buckley had 60 seconds, so even in that respect he didn't do much, his top control did nothing. But majority of the round was standing and Buckely battered him. Colby was gonna be down 3-0, he was done.

Colby always was the guy who was good to keep his pressure and rhythm on from start to finish. He never really was a comeback guy. He might have won a later round or 2, but he looked his best against guys at the end of their career, so people attribute too much to him.

Honestly I doubt anyone cares about either of them in 10 years

But Colby should retire before he takes too much permanent damage

Colby's best fight was the first fight with Usman that he lost.

When your biggest accomplishment is losing a fight, maybe being a pro fighter just isn't the thing you should be doing in your late 30s

I hate seeing fights stopped like that. Kind of have a nagging feeling that Colby was going to outwrestle Buckley for the remainder of the fight which could have made it interesting. In saying that Buckley still had a lot more significant strikes in round 3 so might have had that round anyway and an unassailable lead... doubt Colby was getting a finish or doing enough damage to get a 10-8.. though it's bad to assume as this is one crazy sport. I'd prefer to watch it play out.

Buckley was slowing tremendously due to lactic acid build up in his beach muscles.

Colby won round 3 and held him down for quite a while.

Colby was going to win 4 and 5 with cardio and wrestling.

ADMIT IT THAT COLBY HAD MOMENTUM AND WAS GOING TO WIN 4 AND 5.

i agree that the tide was turning, but the last two rounds would have probably been colby on top with pitter-patter shots and no damage given. people only care to watch him win or lose, but he has to build up a fight first. that's why no one cared about this fight with buckley. fans weren't invested because there wasn't beef.

He could probably make a solid living doing it if he was active and willing to fight down the rankings and accept that he might never fight for the title again. Look at Jim Miller for example.

Not to mention he had his jaw broke in that fight. I hated how he got the rematch and the Leon fight afterwards. Colby deserves the hate for ruining the WW rankings ever since he lost to Usman the 1st time.
