Why can't you people admit Colby was taking over?

Third round was arguably his worst round. He was getting battered on the feet and breathing with his mouth wide open. Only success was when Buckley fell off the top going for an ill advised inverted triangle. Even then all he did was land some pitter patter shots in the guard and he couldn’t keep him there for more than a minute. There were no signs of the tide turning at all.

He would get finished imo.

Found Colby's account.

Colby wanted that stoppage as much as the doctor did. It gave him an out and allowed him to make excuses.
Fortunately for him, he got the best possible outcome. He got to save some face and have an easy excuse. He was in trouble and heading towards getting stopped proper.

Colby looked just as or more tired than Buckley, who honestly didn’t look particularly tired. He had just fought back up to his feet, not what a tired fighter that’s fading does.

He could probably make a solid living doing it if he was active and willing to fight down the rankings and accept that he might never fight for the title again. Look at Jim Miller for example.
Fair enough but Jim Miller is everything Colby never will be. He actually enjoys fighting and training. He will fight the guy in front of him and doesn't whine after a loss.

Colby can never be that guy.

Not to mention he had his jaw broke in that fight. I hated how he got the rematch and the Leon fight afterwards. Colby deserves the hate for ruining the WW rankings ever since he lost to Usman the 1st time.
To be absolutely fair, the rematch bullshit really goes back to Woodley and Wonderboy, or even back to Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks if you want to go that far back.

But he never earned his second title fight. And he never earned his fight vs Leon, either. He refused to fight contenders for a long time, aside from Masvidal who was already one foot out the door.

Colby hasn't beaten a legit contender since...RDA? Robbie was pretty shot when they fought, and even RDA wasn't at his best imo. His entire resume is beating guys on their way out the door and begging for title fights he doesn't deserve.

Odd comparisons. Lawler won 2 fights against two guys that were relevant at the time for that rematch. Woodley and Wonderboy had a draw, rematch made sense. Not exactly the same as getting shots off beating guys on losing streaks.

I do agree with OP that Buckley was slowing down and Colby might have won 4 & 5. Might. But he didn't. He lost. Pretty badly.

We are acting like Colby is a cardio machine. Yeah, he can be... against smaller older opponents who don't put much resistance in the clinch.

The headbutt that caused the cut didn't help either. The initial cut under his eye was the one from the uppercut and wouldn't have gotten the fight stopped. The headbutt caused the fight ending cut

I bet Colby at +205 so I would have loved to see it your way but that’s not what was happening. He was getting fucked up on the feet and even when he took him down, Buckley just got up like in round 2. Round 3 he did not end on top either, had like 1 min of top control with no offense and Buckley got up that’s when Dan stepped in due to the cut. I mean for christs sake look at their faces when Dan did step in…

Because they let their hatred of trump blind them so badly that they rooted for an even more vocal trump supporter, in the end ....can't make this shit up

For real I'm no fan of Colby but if I were in his corner we would have been talking about throwing in the towel after rd 3, maybe 4 at the latest.

30 - 26 after 3 rounds.

Like did you guys want to see him die out there? Should have asked for Yamasaki.
