Perhaps but there are plenty of britts who also do a poor American accent as well. Charlie Hunnam for example was pretty terrible in SOA, his accent would slip frequently. Then again, he can’t do accents very well, as his Cockney accent in Green Streets was comical.

the bond ? is always kinda weird, b/c it kinda depends on what each person thinks the ideal Bond would be.

Connery bond was more gangsta, and overt w/ his puns/references. Craig is more like that than the other iterations IMO. Moore and Brosnan were more 'smooth' but probably mostly based purely on how they look/spoke. Lazenby was just kinda weird (probably more do to him coming from modeling and have less acting experience) and Dalton was a combo of smooth/tough

If I'm being honest (and I know it's blasphemous) I think Pierce Brosnan might've actually been the best cast person thus far

I am not against it in principle. The problem is simply the bond character itself. Americans in general just can't pull it off. Subtlety is not our thing. It's hard for Americans, even acting, to be a little obnoxious without going into full douche mode.

I can not think of a single American actor that has both the acting skills and the physical requirements.

Sure why not the guy they have playing Bond now is short ugly as hell and has to lift weights to be cool. Bond has been my favorite movies forever but little craig ruined it for me.
