Who's ahead in your GOAT list — Islam or Poatan?

goat islam struggled vs. sorier which almost died vs. bdsm-guy
thankfully this time goatslam has more reliable opponent to look as a great skilled champ people praise him to be

Just one thing, being all rounded # being more dominant. Chimaev isn't all rounded like, let's say, Whittaker... Whittaker is more complete. But Chimaev is so elite in one area that it overwhelms his opponents' well rounded level. Poatan is an elite striker... Who's getting better and better in grappling. He went from being taken down by Izzy (but stopped all attempts of finish), to being able to endure Jan's first round wrestling and then making all other attempts void, to getting up right in the first round vs Jiri Prochazka 1, to then not even getting close to being taken down by Jiri Prochazka in the second fight... If that doesn't show grappling defense big evolution, I don't know what it does. Ngannou for example had grappling as a weakness too... But he eventually made it more difficult to explore with the same years of experience as Poatan.

As Ngannou recently said in an interview — "Alex' striking is elite level, in skills and in power... And when guys like this are gifted to learn take down defense quickly, they become the most dangerous monsters... Glover once said Alex would compete at HW. Seeing him right now and his fights, I believe he will get the HW belt. For how long he is going to defend it, I don't know.

Just here to throw it out there that Alex has more than the one defeat reported in the OP

As far as ranked fighters, there was DDP, Brunson, Whittaker, Vettori, Hermanson ect who were there at that time. Not sure why this would even need to be told to any regular on a UFC forum.

Adesanya had Pereira on the ground for an entire round and only got back up because the round ended, and Bruno Silva of all people took him down twice. Knowing that, even guys like Andre Muniz and Malkoun (took Allen down 7 times) ect would've been risky matchups for him.

Until he proves himself as well rounded, he should be nowhere near GOAT convos, especially after a split decision where he was wrestlefucked by a guy like Jan just over a year ago.
Calling Whittaker a wrestlers a real stretch.

Islam easy.

Poaton still keeps entering fights as an underdog or near one. Poaton is the GOAT striker of all time in MMA for me easily. But he still has too many holes to be a true GOAT. Love him though.
