Is CM Punk still in the "Testing Pool"? Some Sherdogger should get up at a Q & A and beg for a fight with him the way that guy in Saudi did.How is it even possible he was training for years at a top gym?
Yeah, that's what I'm saying he listed Hendricks but he shouldn't/doesn't fit the criteria he listed. He is more like a Liddell, Gaethje and Topuria type than the others.
OP has weird selective criteria. Topuria also went for takedowns in his most recent fight.why doesn't topuria count? half his wins are subs
he took all of his ufc opponents down, excluding volk
but we think of GSP as a wrestler who could strike.GSP didnt have a background as a wrestler. He was a karate black belt that learned how to wrestle.
but we think of GSP as a wrestler who could strike.
AS a wrestler...yep, so what do you think of him as? what made GSP so dominate?Who is “we”
You’ve been watching UFC since at least ‘09. Are you telling me you think of GSP as a wrestler instead of a striker?
Randy couture has an actual boxing background in the military. There's a reason he outboxed Lidell (a karateka/brawler)despite everybody thinking Lidell would have the upper hand .I'm not considering guys with background wrestling who turned into strikers like Gathje, Liddel or Topuria
IMO:
DC
Islam
Usman
Just a level below
Couture
Rashad
Hendricks
Mendes
Weidman
Cain
GSP is an odd one when it comes to his background, though. His actual background was in karate. The he learned generic MMA, became well-rounded and greatly improved his wrestling game along with his jab. He didn't even wrestle in high school. So was he really a "wrestler" who became a very good boxer? The fuck dude no mention of GSP who had miles better technical boxing than any of them?
Also total dark horse here but Yoel has to come up in this conversation IYKYK
Nobody else breaking hands with their guard and slipping punches like Yoel did late in his career.
