Where the hell did all these Leon Edwards fans come from?

Hard to tell where the legitimate Leon fans begin and the Usman haters begin (and I don't say that to demean the legitimate Leon fans, just something I've noticed since last night).

Personally I've never had anything against the guy, but I've only ever seen a couple of his fights because the bulk of his career was before I started following the sport. I always felt like he was largely disrespected by the community. I said that he had a solid chance of dethroning Usman and was being IMO disrespected by the oddmakers (though I did absolutely pick Usman to win and by finish at that lol), but beyond that I am and was largely indifferent all around.

I was a fan because he was fighting Usman, I remain a fan because of this

This hasn't stopped cracking me up.

I hate these fake fans who decide who to root for based on the fights. I pick a debuting fighter ever year and become their fan so I can't be "bandwagonning" by lameass things like the fighter's performance.

I am a fan of fights and seeing the underdog get his day. Also a fan of the fact a fighter everyone trashed as boring has one of the highlights of the UFC period. You sound bitter as hell the man is getting his day when he has been fighting for his respect

I know y’all weren’t here Saturday morning. Now this place seems infested with them.

There is even a white belt named @Leon Edwards that somehow can make threads. It’s madness

This your opportunity to prove you aren’t a bandwagoner. Tell me when you became a fan. What won you over? Where have you been hiding? Why wait so long to show your face?

I made a thread a few days ago, saying Leon had a chance at winning and have always defended his skills. I Think Leon will win rematch to.

Well I think you have to be fair. When somebody comes out and KO's one of the most dominant champions of all time, he get's respect. So don't confuse fandom with admiration of what the man accomplished.

People probably appreciated his come from behind walk-off KO and all the passion afterwards. That’s generally how life works — you do something interesting and then people become interested in you.

Fuck it. Since last night.
Never been a fan of him but what he did to Usman makes me like the guy.
I’m not going to be ashamed to admit that a lot of his “fans” are guys who didn’t care for Kamaru.
And I’m one of them.

I can't say I'm very "Rah Rah" about many fighters, but I also just didn't understand the hatred for him on here.

I thought he handled the 3 piece and a soda situation well. He wasn't running around crying about it. He just called out Masvidal for a fight and never got a real response so he moved on. He also was the only one who seemingly wanted the Khamzat fight. Respeck.

He should have faked a brain injury and gone to court over the 3 piece and soda, that'd have gotten him sherdogers respect.

And while I can't say I was ever a big Leon, he's a great story contender nobody gave his due finishes the p4p champion, after being pushed aside because Colby's mouthed his way into a rematch fighting woodley and refusing to fight Leon, after Masvidal mouthed his way into a rematch fighting no one and refusing to fight Leon, after Leon was pulled from the rankings for not fighting unranked Khamzat until he agreed. It's nice to see him succeed.
