International What is everyones thoughts on a war with Venezuela?

Then why do Canadians come to the US for their non emergency procedures? It ain’t all that.

While a common belief suggests many Canadians cross the border for healthcare due to long waits in Canada, actual numbers are relatively small, though increasing for elective procedures, with a significant portion of Canadians willing to travel for timely care, according to recent polls. Studies show the volume of Canadian patients in U.S. facilities is low, but recent surveys indicate growing willingness among Canadians to pay out-of-pocket for faster U.S. care for both routine and emergency needs, especially for things not covered (like dental) or for shorter waits.
Data & Studies
  • Low Actual Numbers (Historically): Older studies found that the number of Canadians seeking care in the U.S. was very small, with most facilities seeing few or no Canadian patients, debunking widespread myths, notes the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Public Health PNHP.
  • Increasing Willingness (Recent Polls): A 2024 Ipsos poll, cited by Global News and the Canadian Medical Association, found 42% of Canadians would pay for U.S. healthcare, and 38% for emergency care, significantly up from the previous year.
Reasons for Travel
  • Long Waits: The primary driver is Canada's long wait times for non-emergency, elective procedures like MRIs or joint replacements, according to the Canadian Medical Association and U.S. News & World Report.
  • Uncovered Services: Some Canadians travel for treatments not covered by public insurance, such as certain dental or cosmetic procedures, notes Quora users.
  • Second Opinions: Canadians may seek U.S. care for specialized opinions or treatments not available locally, according to a Quora user.
Barriers
  • High Costs: The extreme cost of U.S. healthcare is a major deterrent, with many Canadians unable to afford it out-of-pocket, points out Vox and Reddit users.
  • Insurance: Most Canadian insurance doesn't cover U.S. care, requiring significant personal expense.

I thought Epstein files might actually do him in but a regime change war of all things brings them back in. They really are evil. I try to look for the best in people but at this point it’s so comically obvious that Trump is a horrible president and person that anyone who still continues to support him just is a giant piece of shit. I often think to myself how many of these supporters have kids and wonder how they can be okay with just damaging their futures like this. Every action he takes is making this country a worse place to live in. Might actually retire abroad because like you said it really is embarrassing to be associated with this madness
But it makes them feel powerful, isn't it exhilarating? 😃

China get 90% of Venezuela’s oil, 85% of Iran’s oil, and 50% of Russia’s oil. By cutting off China from Venezuela’s oil they won’t have the energy to invade Taiwan, no AI dominance, or BRIC currency.

It’s not just about removing a dictator, or the Cartel. Trump promised America First and he’s delivering. Now watch and listen to the liberals lose their minds.

Delcy is Maduro’s sidekick…This is like leaving Iraq under the ownership of Tariq Aziz.

It won’t make much of a material difference.
They need to get her brother and her. Her brother is basically saddam Hussein level. Charismatic, well connected but a psychopath. Give the magarats another week to learn from Twitter, ai and Wikipedia. They might finally bring his crazy ass up and realize the issue. Best case scenario she takes over and he quietly Pinochets the opposition, while the promise of elections. Worse case it turns into a libya.

Eventually they'll figure out who is in charge lol it could change suddenly after weeks of static structure. Until then enjoy their predictions.

I'm sure the common American won't pay for it and will profit. *Sarcasm* it won't be like Iraq. *Sarcasm*

It'll be interesting to see what happens when MAGA nazi scumbags' kids start coming home in bodybags.

Do you think that makes it legal? Do you realize what kind of precedent this sets when we have Russia and China trying to expand their borders by force? We were the number one world power by earning it. If we become bullies resorting to military attacks instead of diplomacy it's only going to hurt our standing on the world stage and alienate our allies.

This assuming we put a base there or something. I can tell you right now, Annexing them is out of the question

Hate to tell you.. This is a narrative that is pushed by right wing talking heads.

The main problems with the Canadian system is

1) Lack of family doctors...
2) Immigrants clogging emergency rooms and services(partially caused by number 1)( There are many stories of people calling an ambulance because there child has the flu.. Ambulance must take the people to the hospital if they request it. Over the last few years hospitals have tried to issue a bill for non emergency Ambulance use)

MRI wait times can be high at times.. I have had 2 in the last 5 years...Both times the initial appointment was 3 months and i received a call and got in early (2 weeks and 3 weeks)both times... A few years back we had an issue with my son and literately got in within 8 hours.

It is not a perfect system but it is so much better than what you hear.

Yeah, I think that's pretty obvious too, but just unilaterally conducting these attacks will hurt our credibility not to mention this talk of "We're running the country now and will take back the oil that was stollen from us."

Trump takes out a dictator and the Venezuela people are cheering. Have you forgotten that the Venezuelan people had to eat their own animals to survive? The Democratic Party has no clear policies other than to take out the orange man. I think it’s hilarious to watch you guys cry like a bunch of little babies cause you didn’t get your way. Trump is carrying out his campaign promises, which is a hell of a lot more than Biden did.

This place can be embarrassing at times.

That happens here too, it's a fault of the hospital staff, it has nothing to do with the healthcare system...
Waiting… EIGHT… HOURS… to se a doctor… you don’t think that has anything to do with the system?

It’s not some exceptionally incompetent staff, I live in another province and waited 6 hours for my son to get 5 stitches that took 3 minutes… this was in another hospital, different staff, and these are not outliers, this is now the norm up here.

Do you know why there’s a lack of family practitioners here in America, Obamacare that’s why. That’s the reason why you see so many urgent cares with nurse practitioners instead of doctors. The insurance companies under Obamacare, do not pay the primary care doctors enough to sustain their business. That’s why young med students aren’t going into the field, hence the lack of primary care physicians.

I personally don’t worry about Canada, I’m American. I’ve played music all over Canada, love the people.
